Luca Miraglia Foundation

Luca Miraglia Foundation Luca Miraglia Foundation is registered with the Australian Charities and Not for Profit Commission a

In 2012 we ran our first fundraising event, “An Evening for Luca” which many of you supported. It was incredibly successful and we were overwhelmed at how the community and businesses came together to raise money to continue the Intensive Behavioural Therapy program for our son Luca. Despite his challenges, (Luca has Autism, is severely deaf and has Chronic Kidney Failure which also causes contine

nce issues), the amazing work and over 2500 hours provided by Luca’s behavioural therapists have resulted in a dream being realised - he is now a happy and contributing pupil in mainstream school. Our aim is to raise money and awareness to ensure essential assistance and ongoing support and development continues so that Luca (and children like him) can keep striving to be “the best he can be."

$2200 raised for the Good Friday Appeal - what a fabulous result, far exceeding our expectations!!

Thanks to the generosity of all those who donated online, attended our morning tea and sent messages of support and encouragement. Just goes to show that amidst all the uncertainty and tragedy in the world today there is still much love, compassion and hope.

Childhood illness and disease does not take a break when times get tough and despite the personal challenges many of you currently face you still stepped up and supported this magnificent hospital and in doing so enable them to continue to give hundreds of thousands of babies and children the best chance at life.

From the bottom of our heart,
Thank you x

A Royal Children's Hospital graduation ceremony officially marked the end of a chapter and the start of a new one.

We celebrated the remarkable journeys of all the brave and resilient graduates, each with their own incredible stories of facing adversity, showing what is possible with grit, determination and a compassionate and brilliant team behind you.

Luca transitioned to the Austin hospital late last year as a patient of the renal and urology clnics where he will continue with 6 weekly reviews, blood tests, xrays etc

Whilst Luca is no longer an RCH patient, we remain long term supporters through our bed sponsorship in NICU, participation in "Haul for a Cause" for the Good Friday Appeal and other fundraising projects.

We are very grateful for your continued support of the Luca Miraglia Foundation and our fundraising efforts.

The lead up to Christmas should be a fun joyous time to celebrate with friends and family. Unfortunately for many families with seriously ill children this is a terribly heartbreaking time of year.

We are reaching out to our generous compassionate supporters to ask if you could help one such family facing a tremendously difficult time.

Little Zoe is critically ill and in intensive care at the Royal Children's Hospital where she has spent much of her short 3 and a half years. She has an extremely rare genetic disorder that causes her immune system to attack her own blood.

She has endured two bone marrow transplants, painful treatments, heavy chemo, infusions and countless infections.

A recent lung infection has left her fighting for her life.

We are currently sponsoring her parents to stay at the hospital hotel so they can be near to their precious giri until she comes out of ICU - this could be weeks.

If you could spare a few dollars so that her parerts and siblings can be where they need to be that would make their Christmas slightly more bearable.

Nine donations of $20 (3 coffees) will cover one night's accommodation

If you know of any business that may consider a tax deductible donation please pass on our details.

We are aiming to raise $1200 to cover 1 week's accommodation.

Forever grateful for your support and thankful that our children are home with us for Christmas.

My Red Socks Run in support of finding alternatives to Dialysis is complete.

Only $120 more to raise to reach my fundraising goal ....

Dialysis helps Aussies live longer but not better. It forces people to put their lives on hold. Your donation can fund vital research to discover breakthrough alternatives to dialysis.

If you’re able, please consider donating — even the smallest amount makes a real difference.

Any donation no matter how small is valued.

Your support can help end dialysis — and develop breakthrough treatments for 1 in 7 Australians who are living with chronic kidney disease.

Research is vital to discover better options for treatment. Your donation can help end dialysis by 2050.

Halfway through October and halfway there! 🏃‍♀️

Hit the midpoint of my 60km Red Socks Run and halfway to my $500 goal for Kidney Health Australia.

Added a 5km beach run this morning — tough going, but I’m so grateful to have the freedom to move and be outdoors. 🌞

For people who rely on dialysis to stay alive, that freedom isn’t possible. Hours stuck in hospital chairs or confined to bed hooked up to machines, trying to avoid serious infection through their dialysis port or catheter, unable to travel far or live life on their own terms, — it’s way beyond tough.

I’m running to support the mission to end dialysis by 2050. Every step I take — and every dollar you give — helps bring that goal closer — even the smallest donation helps. ❤️

Each month, over 15,000 Australians spend 60 hours connected to a dialysis machine - just to stay alive.

Before his transplant when he was in chronic renal failure Luca was connected to the dialysis machine for 70 HOURS per WEEK. He was on dialysis for 15 months so that's a total of OVER 4,500 HOURS ON DIALYSIS. The impact on him and our family was immense.

So, I've pulled up my reds socks again and am taking part in the Kidney Health Australia "Red Socks Run." I will run 60km in the month of October and support the movement towards a future with a reduced dependence on dialysis.

If you can spare a few dollars and show people with kidney failure on dialysis they’re not alone it would be much appreciated ###
