What an absolutely amazing day we had yesterday at the Mackay RSL Wellness Centre, coming together to raise awareness, show support and raise much-needed funds for breast cancer research and support services! 🩷
We are incredibly proud to announce that, thanks to the generosity of our wonderful community, we raised over $3,000 yesterday, for the McGrath Foundation and National Breast Cancer Foundation! 🎗

Thank you for sharing your time, knowledge and the incredible work your organisation does supporting those affected by breast cancer. Your photos and stories from the 2026 IBCPC Participatory Dragon Boat Festival, in France, were a beautiful reminder that no one has to navigate their journey alone. There are incredible communities, organisations and support networks out there offering friendship, encouragement, understanding and a genuine sense of belonging. Whether someone is facing the challenges of a breast cancer diagnosis, navigating recovery, or simply looking to connect with others who understand their experiences, it's reassuring to know that there are people and places where they can find support, strength and connection.

🎀 A LITTLE REMINDER THAT COULD SAVE YOUR LIFE...
Did you know that approximately 1 in 7 Australian women will be diagnosed with breast cancer during their lifetime? That's a confronting statistic, and one that highlights just how important breast cancer awareness and early detection really are.
In Queensland, women aged 40 and over are eligible for FREE breast screening through BreastScreen Queensland. Women aged 50–74 are strongly encouraged to have a mammogram every two years, while women aged 40–49 and 75 and over are encouraged to speak with their GP about whether screening is right for them. Mammograms can detect breast cancers before symptoms appear, when treatment is often more effective.
And gentlemen, don't think this doesn't apply to you! 💙 Men have breast tissue too, and they CAN develop breast cancer. In fact, approximately 200 Australian men are diagnosed each year. Breast cancer doesn't discriminate, and knowing what's normal for your body is important regardless of gender.
If you notice a lump, changes in breast shape, ni**le discharge or anything unusual, please don't wait for your next screening appointment. Have it checked by your GP.
Early detection can save lives. A few minutes of your time could make a lifetime of difference!!
