Well, we blinked… and somehow we’re here already! 🎄

It’s that time of year again. Our 2026 Christmas Hamper Drive is officially underway!

A huge thank you to Mackay West State School and their Student Council for jumping on board again this year and helping collect donations for Whitsunday Foodbank Mackay. We are so grateful to have the support of our local schools and community.

And this year, we’d love to see even more of our community get involved.

We’ve created a Christmas Hamper Drive collection poster for any local businesses, workplaces, sporting clubs or organisations that would like to become a collection point.

Simply pop the poster up in your staff room or workplace, place out a box or basket and encourage your team to donate a few non-perishable food, pantry or personal care items.

It doesn’t have to be a huge collection. A tin of food, a packet of pasta, a box of cereal or a tube of toothpaste might seem small, but when our whole community gets behind it, those little donations quickly turn into hampers for local families who need a helping hand this Christmas.

If your business would like to jump on board, please save and print our flyer and start collecting.

Every little bit helps, and together we can make Christmas a little brighter for families across our community. ❤️

PLEASE NOTE: Our Christmas Hamper Register is NOT open yet. We will advise customers IN-STORE when registrations open.

This year we are limited to 100 Christmas hampers, so please keep an eye out for further information regarding registrations.

💚 A reminder of who we are and what we do at Whitsunday Foodbank Mackay.

We are a not-for-profit organisation helping make groceries more affordable and accessible for our local community.

🛒 LOW-COST FOOD – OPEN TO EVERYONE

Anyone can shop with us. You don’t need a concession card, referral or to be experiencing hardship.

When you shop with us, the money goes straight back into purchasing more food, helping us keep our shelves stocked and continue providing affordable groceries to the community.

📦 FOOD HAMPERS

When available, food hampers are provided to those who need some extra assistance and are limited to one per household every three months.

At the moment, hampers supplied through Foodbank Queensland are becoming harder for us to secure. We apologise if there are times when we don’t have hampers available.

Please know that we will always endeavour to help where we can and point you in the right direction if there are other options available.

🕙 OPEN MONDAY TO FRIDAY | 10AM–2PM
📍 LOCATED AT 161 SHAKESPEARE STREET, MACKAY

Whether you’re trying to stretch the grocery budget a little further or things are particularly tough right now, you’re welcome through our doors.

💚 We’re a hand up, not a hand out.

Happy Sunday, folks! ☀️

Another day, another delivery heading to Blacks Beach Supermarket & Takeaway!

We’ve got another load of fresh produce, salads and plenty of bread making its way over this morning. Rather than see perfectly good food go to waste over the long weekend, we’d much rather see it head home with local families. 💚

If you’re nearby, pop in and grab what you need while it lasts!

A huge thank you to Blacks Beach Supermarket for helping us make sure this food finds a home. 🙌

Happy long weekend, everyone! ☀️

We’ve got some fresh iceberg lettuce and assorted bread varieties that we don’t want going to waste over the long weekend.

We’re sending them over to Blacks Beach Supermarket & Takeaway this morning for anyone who can make use of them. 🥬🍞

Please help us make sure this perfectly good food ends up on someone’s table rather than in the bin.

Available while stocks last.

Have a safe and happy long weekend from the Foodbank Mackay team! 🫶

We get it. Times are tough right now - for everyone.

If you are genuinely struggling, please talk to our manager, Fiona. If there is a way we can help you out, we will. That is exactly what we are here for.

But unfortunately, we need to make something very clear.

Shoplifting WILL NOT be tolerated.

If you choose to steal from Whitsunday Foodbank, you WILL be banned. Our premises are under surveillance, and we will act when theft occurs.

It honestly disappoints us so much that we even have to make this post. We would much rather someone come to us, have a conversation and ask for help than feel they need to take something without paying.

Please, if you’re struggling, talk to us. Don’t steal from us.
