Despite the rain deciding to join us for the entire event, our soggy little band of Vikings had an absolute blast at Global Grooves!

We were politely discouraged from taking over the world with swords, so we settled for pillaging the food stalls, meeting some wonderful people, sharing stories, reading runes, getting hands-on with wet felting… and eventually slaying the dancefloor instead. 💃🪓

Our trader stall, seeress and felting workshop were a huge success, and we loved chatting with everyone who stopped by.

A massive THANK YOU to the organisers, fellow vendors, performers and everyone who braved the weather to make the day so wonderful. You were all brilliant!

We might be a little soggy, but we're headed home with full bellies, happy hearts and some excellent memories.

A day of craftsmanship, creativity, and questionable weather-related maritime planning at Stace and Shaun’s!

Our little band of makers kept busy despite the heavens deciding that the property should, in fact, become a lake.

Tae took on the monumental task of slowly and methodically untangling the absolutely gorgeous merino yarn that Stace had lovingly transformed into a nest. A task requiring the patience of a saint… or perhaps a Norn weaving the threads of fate. 👀

Shaun, Haydn, and Ben got to work on shields, because apparently we can never have too many ways to defend ourselves.

Vicki was busy carving and engraving her skull, because every craft day needs a little bit of the macabre.

Stace divided her time between embroidery and weaving, keeping the fibres of fate firmly in hand (unlike that poor merino).

Aubrey was wonderfully productive, shaping and sanding a brand-new front step for Comfy Cottage AND creating watercolour paintings. Small human, mighty work ethic!

Combat was sadly cancelled, as the training ground had become one enormous puddle. Which did leave us asking the important question…

DO WE ACTUALLY NEED A LONGSHIP TO GET EVERYONE HOME?!

We're beginning to suspect our Viking ancestors may have had the right idea after all. 😂

Rain or shine (mostly rain), there's always something to make, something to learn, and good company to share it with.

A fantastic afternoon for Mackay training.
Shaun, Vlad, Asta, Haydn and BFG clashed swords and spears.
Vicky continued working on her new tent.
Stace obsessed over a baking book, Tammy was felting, surprisingly she has the patience to stab something hundreds of times.
Tae kept us all entertained while playing with the kids.

Another beautifully sunny afternoon with a lovely coolish breeze.
Vlad showed off his new sling.
Shaun, Vlad, Asta, Haydn and BFG clashed with plastics, with Asta giggling the whole time.
Vicky sewed toggles on her new tent canvas.
Stace stabbed balls of fleece with barbed needles making marvelous little felt creations.
Tae fevered away at some crocheting while playing snakes and ladders with Chanon.
And the rest of us just chatted and laughed.

Thank you Valley for an absolutely epic weekend!

From our most seasoned warrior to our youngest fighter, the Mercs embodied our warcry: Victory or Death!

After the first glorious battle came a feast worthy of warriors: meats, cheeses, merriment, and the sort of night that tends to make the following morning a little hazy.

The vibes were unmatched, the murals created for the Mercs were absolutely stunning, and the dancing went well into the night.

Even so, a few brave Vikings somehow managed to wash off the glitter, find their armour, and return for a second battle.

Now the weapons must be stowed, the armour packed away, and we must reluctantly return to the current century.

The Mercenaries of Western Europe descended upon the Seaforth Father's Day Markets today!
Many a brave dad took his rightful place upon the throne, donning armour and wielding weapons worthy of a warrior.
Scotty and Christo clashed in an epic battle, our traders tempted folk with an array of Viking-age treasures, and our Seeress offered readings and tales of life, battle and belief in the Viking Age.
A grand day was had by all! Skål to the dads, warriors and curious folk of Seaforth!
