Mackay Pet Rescue Inc. would like to extend our sincere thanks to Jade McAuley and the team at Rebel Nation for their generous support of our rescue.

As a volunteer-run organisation, we rely heavily on the support of our community and local businesses. Every partnership helps us continue rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming vulnerable animals across our region.

The Force is strong with this litter.

Mando, Obi Wan, Kylo Ren, Princess Leia and Rey Skywalker are ready to begin the next chapter of their adventure, and they are searching for families of their own.

These stunning little kittens will be in the condos at Petbarn Greenfields from Thursday through until Sunday, unless they are adopted first. They will be available to meet each day from 10:00am to 4:00pm.

The three boys are having their final vet work completed today and will be ready to leave for their forever homes from Thursday.

Every one of these kittens is friendly, affectionate, playful and absolutely gorgeous. They have been raised in foster care, loved, socialised and prepared for the day they find their own families.

If you have been thinking about adding a kitten to your family, don’t wait until Thursday and risk missing out.

Sometimes life gives an animal every reason not to trust people.

Sammy's story began with heartbreak.

After being given away by his owner, Sammy went missing. For an entire month he was out there alone, facing the elements and the uncertainty of life on the streets. While people searched and hoped, nobody knew if he would ever be seen again.

Thankfully, Sammy was eventually found and safely caught.

What happened next surprised us.

Rather than taking him back, his owner chose to surrender him to Mackay Pet Rescue Inc.

For Sammy, it was another huge change in a life that had already been turned upside down.

So we gave him what every scared and confused cat needs. Time.

Time to decompress.

Time to feel safe.

Time to learn that he would never have to wonder where his next meal was coming from or whether he would have a warm bed to sleep in.

And Sammy has rewarded that patience with the most beautiful personality.

He is a gentle, affectionate boy who loves company and enjoys being close to his people. He has settled beautifully into foster care and has shown us what a truly lovely cat he is.

At just 5 years of age, Sammy is past the crazy kitten stage but still has so much love, companionship and life ahead of him. He would make a wonderful addition to a family looking for a loyal friend and constant companion.

He is already desexed and microchipped and has been getting along well with the foster carers others cats. We will get his vaccination updated prior to adoption. It has recently expired.

Sammy has already lost one home, survived being missing for a month and faced more uncertainty than any cat should have to endure.

Now all he needs is someone willing to give him the happy ending he deserves.

Thrown Away. Never Forgotten.

Just a short time ago, Grayson and Ayanna's lives were turned upside down.

They were discovered dumped in a bag on the side of the road alongside two other kittens and two adult male Ragdolls. It is difficult to imagine what their future would have been if they had not been found. The reality is that these beautiful cats are incredibly fortunate to be alive.

The first 24 hours were tough. Everything they had ever known disappeared in an instant. Strange people. Strange surroundings. A completely different world.

But what amazed us most was how quickly these two gentle souls chose trust over fear.
Almost immediately they accepted kindness. They didn't run from people. They welcomed gentle pats, cuddles and even kisses. Despite everything they had been through, they still believed that humans could be their friends.

Now safely in foster care with Mackay Pet Rescue Inc., both kittens are thriving.

Ayanna is an absolutely stunning young lady with a soft, luxurious coat and the sweetest nature imaginable. She loves affection and has a calm, gentle personality that makes everyone fall in love with her.

Grayson is equally special. If he thinks he is being overlooked, he'll reach out with his paw and gently tap your arm as if to say, "Excuse me, I think you've forgotten something important... me."

Despite their ordeal, both kittens remain incredibly affectionate, friendly and loving. They have beautiful temperaments and would make wonderful companions.

Sometimes the animals who have every reason not to trust are the ones who love the hardest.
Grayson and Ayanna truly are perfect.

⭐ THANK YOU, BERTA AND THE WONDERFUL TEAM AT MOUNT PLEASANT SHOPPING CENTRE ⭐

On Saturday, Mackay Pet Rescue Inc. had the pleasure of hosting our Mandalorian Adoption Day at Mount Pleasant Shopping Centre.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Berta and the entire team for allowing us to use the kiosk. It was a fantastic location and gave us the opportunity to showcase some truly beautiful kittens to the community.

Our Mandalorian kittens attracted plenty of attention, but they certainly weren’t the only stars of the day. Our stunning black kittens and gorgeous Arctic litter also won plenty of admirers and generated strong interest from potential adopters.

A special thank you also goes to the security team, who regularly checked in on us throughout the day. Your kindness and support were greatly appreciated and helped make the day even more enjoyable.

Days like these are so important for rescue. They allow us to introduce our animals to the public, raise awareness about what we do and sell raffle tickets to help fund our ongoing rescue efforts.

Thank you for providing such a welcoming environment and for supporting local community organisations like ours. We truly appreciate the opportunity.

At Mackay Pet Rescue Inc., we are incredibly fortunate to be supported by a community that genuinely cares about animal welfare.

When Princy's Courier and Distribution saw our appeal for support, they didn't hesitate to step forward and offer a sponsorship contribution of $450 per month to assist the rescue.

This is an incredibly generous commitment and one that will have a meaningful impact on our organisation.

As a volunteer-run rescue, we face ongoing expenses every single day. From veterinary care and medications to food, equipment and operational costs, the need for support never stops. Sponsorships such as this help ensure we can continue rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming animals in need.

Seriously Reacher, what are you doing, mate? 🤦‍♀️

Fortunately, Janene from Elite Dog and Cat Grooming had recently seen the condition of some of our heavily matted Ragdolls and kindly offered her grooming services if we ever needed a hand.

Little did she know we would be taking her up on that offer sooner rather than later!

Today Janene worked her magic, giving Reacher a much-needed bath and carefully helping remove the paint from his coat. It was no small task, but thanks to her patience and expertise, Reacher is looking and feeling so much better.

Now, Reacher’s facial expression throughout the entire process is open to interpretation.

Was it:
“I demand to speak to management.”
“This is highly undignified.”
“Human, what exactly is happening to me right now?”
Or perhaps all three?

Either way, we’re pleased to report that once he got home, Reacher seemed much happier to be clean, paint-free, and back in familiar surroundings.

We would like to give a huge shout out to Janene for stepping up to help one of our rescue cats when he needed it most. Acts of kindness like this make a real difference and remind us just how wonderful our community can be.
