🎉 Round 127 is now open and applications can be submitted through our new grants portal.

Eligible community organisations can apply for grants of up to $35,000 to support projects that make a positive difference in their communities.

The new portal provides clearer guidance and a more streamlined application process, helping applicants understand the requirements and submit their applications online.

FACESS has been saying this from the beginning: young people and families need early, consistent and practical support before difficulties escalate into crisis.

Too often, children only receive attention after they have disengaged from education, come into contact with police or been formally identified as “at risk.” By then, many opportunities to support the young person and strengthen their family may have already been missed.

Families may be navigating domestic and family violence, trauma, poverty, housing instability, disability, mental health concerns and limited access to appropriate services. Recognising these circumstances does not excuse harmful behaviour or remove parental responsibility. It recognises that parents, carers and families sometimes need support to manage complex challenges.

FACESS provides inclusive, relationship-based and practical support to children, young people and families across the Mackay, Whitsunday and Isaac regions. We believe prevention begins with listening, building trust, strengthening families, reconnecting young people with education and community, and responding before concerns become crises.

Contact with police or crisis services should not be the first point at which a vulnerable young person receives coordinated help.

FACESS will continue advocating for greater investment in locally led early-intervention services because supporting young people and families earlier creates safer families, stronger communities and brighter futures.

Applications are closing soon for the Stolen Generations Truth Telling Grants, delivered in partnership by The Community Broadcasting Foundation and The Healing Foundation. With a $200,000 funding pool available to support First Nations-led storytelling collaborations, these grants will help honour, preserve and share the stories of Stolen Generations survivors and descendants through community radio, television and digital platforms.

If you are a First Nations broadcaster, journalist, creative, media organisation or community partner with a truth-telling project idea, now is the time to connect with your local community broadcaster and prepare your application.

Applications close Tuesday 1 September 2026 at 2:00pm AEST. Don’t miss this opportunity to support survivor-centred storytelling, healing and education for future generations.

Know a young person (16-22) with a story to tell?

ABC Heywire is looking for stories from regional, rural and remote Australia. Young people can enter by sharing their experiences through writing, audio or photography.

They could have their story featured by the ABC, work with producers and attend an all-expenses paid trip to the Heywire Summit in Canberra. Tag someone who should enter!
