Rotary Club of Salamanca Sunrise

Rotary Club of Salamanca Sunrise Welcome to the Rotary Club of Salamanca. We meet Tuesdays for breakfast. We are a social, diverse, "hands on" club with a focus on participation.

Joining us is a great way to be active in your community but also to make a difference on a global scale. The Rotary Club of Salamanca was chartered in 1993 as Tasmania's first breakfast Club and first mixed gender Club. The gender balance has been maintained over the years and the relaxed atmosphere that the Club's founding members established is based on an absence of the baggage of tradition: w

e do not sing the national anthem or state the Rotary Grace. We value every member's input and strive to reinvent ourselves to remain fresh and relevant to our community which we assist by:

financially supporting people and organizations
fund raising
providing help in a hands on way both locally and Internationally.

2026 Vocational Excellence Awards
This year we chose two very worthy recipients: Susie Graney from Windeward Bound and Karen Payne from Hearing Australia.
Susie was chosen for her passion in youth development on Windeward Bound adventures. Her hands-on approach enables young people to develop resilience, communication, teamwork and sailing abilities.
Karen was chosen for exemplary kindness and empathy with every client at Hearing Australia. She takes a real interest in each patient and treats them with patience, dignity and care.

Members of Salamanca Sunrise Rotary were up early yesterday morning to kick off our participation in the 2026 National Reconciliation Week Breakfast at MyState Bank Arena.
It was a morning of truth telling and truth listening with diverse Aboriginal voices calling for a new vision of how to reset relationships in our state to achieve justice and equity.

Proud to be Rotarians standing in solidarity with Tasmanian Aboriginal people. ❤️

The Rotary Club of Salamanca Sunrise was proud to donate warm winter clothing to Hope in a Suitcase to help pack suitcases for children entering out-of-home care. 💜

As Tasmania heads into the colder months, warm clothing, toiletries, comfort items and practical essentials are greatly needed for vulnerable children experiencing incredibly difficult circumstances.

We encourage other Rotary clubs, community groups, businesses and individuals to support this wonderful organisation and the life-changing work they do for children across our community.

A huge thank you to our members and supporters who contributed so generously, your kindness will make a real difference. 💜

Some lovely new winter clothing kindly donated to us by the Rotary Club of Salamanca Sunrise to pack into suitcases for children entering out-of-home care.

As our weather becomes cooler we are extremely grateful for nice warm winter donations like these!

Congratulations to Dr James Roberts-Thomson, Dr Gerry McGushin, RN Jenny Kerrison and all the Rotarian riders involved in the Ride for Bicycles PNG fundraiser. What an outstanding effort riding Tasmania’s beautiful north-west coast in support of such an important cause.

Our club was delighted to recently welcome Jenny to speak to our club and learn more about the life-changing impact these bicycles have for Community Malaria Volunteers in PNG. Following our Board meeting, we were proud to approve funding for 5 bicycles to support this tremendous initiative.

A special thank you to Gerry for his ongoing generosity, commitment and passion for helping others. We encourage other clubs and the wider community to get behind this worthy project, every bicycle truly makes a difference.

We are proud to share that the Rotary Club of Salamanca Sunrise has made our first donation to support the incredible work of the Australian Red Cross - Lifeblood.❤️

A big thank you to everyone involved in making this happen, Beth, Jenny, Mellissa, Wilmar, and past President Alex, who wasn’t able to join us this morning but generously contributed.

This is just the beginning, and we know that together we can make an even greater impact. We warmly invite other Rotary clubs across Tasmania and beyond to join us in this challenge to get us on the leaderboard and help provide crucial support to those in need.

It is a significant weekend for our club within the Community. Most of our team are participating in our largest fundraiser for Bookfest, and several members have collaborated with the Hobart Club to register athletes for the Hobart Running Festival. We extend our sincere gratitude to our members for their contributions. I had the pleasure of meeting athletes from my homeland, which was particularly exciting.
Thanks to Ellen our NYSF participant for joining us today and Kay for organising our group.
