Tall Ship & Traditional Vessel Sailings for AWBF 2027 ⛵

Bookings are available for a growing line-up of Tall Ship and traditional vessel sails, cruises and special AWBF 2027 experiences, with more operators now adding their schedules.

From the Parade of Sail and Ketch Review to fireworks cruises and Derwent River sails, there are plenty of ways to experience the Festival from the water.

A Rotary Voyage on the Windeward Bound is designed to challenge young Australians to be their best selves. Voyage participants will become a core part of the ship at sea. Everyone on board is a vital member of the team with their own role and responsibilities. They will need to work within their teams to face challenges and build communication skills. Sail Training, which is a strong base of the Windeward Bound voyage program, has been used for centuries to support the development of leadership, confidence, work skills and communication skills in young people. Many participants reflect that they have learned many things that support them, even many years later in life.

Fin joined the Youth Leadership Challenge 10 years ago!!

A lot has changed in the world in 10 years, but what hasn't changed is that there's still no mobile phones in sight on youth development voyages in STV Windeward Bound. 📵

“This voyage was a truly amazing trip that I will never forget and I’m sure I have made new friends, Tasmanian and from other cultures that I will keep in touch with and visit as regularly as possible. I’m really grateful that social media will make keeping in touch easier but can’t believe that we could have had such an amazing, life changing experience with not a mobile phone in sight for 10 days! ”

Climb a 24-metre mast. Take the helm. Come home a different person.

On a Youth Development Sail Training Voyage aboard Windeward Bound, young people learn to sail a square-rigged tall ship. They keep watch and take the helm, help in the galley, navigate by the ship's charts, and climb aloft to set and furl the sails. Along the way we drop anchor for beach stops and a bit of fun. No sailing experience needed, and our crew teach everyone what they need for life at sea.

It's teamwork, responsibility and problem-solving in the real world - and proof that what happens in the classroom actually matters out here.
