If you haven’t voted yet, I would appreciate your number 1 vote for Deputy Lord Mayor and Councillor for Hobart. Voting closes this Tuesday, and as of yesterday, only around half of Hobart’s voters had returned their ballots.

My commitment to Hobart began well before this election. This time last year, I wrote about the important role Hobart’s markets play in supporting local businesses, jobs and community life.

I want Council to make it easier for markets and stallholders to thrive, with practical support, good access and welcoming public spaces.

This spring, get out and support a local market. Every purchase helps someone build their business.

I am standing because Hobart needs experienced, respectful and community minded leadership focused on getting the basics right and delivering results.

My priorities are:
✅ Getting the basics right
✅ Supporting more homes in Hobart
✅ Improving traffic flow, parking and access
✅ Supporting local businesses and jobs
✅ Spending ratepayer money responsibly
✅ Creating a safer and more welcoming city

With more than 20 years of running a local small business and years of community advocacy, I will bring practical experience, local knowledge and respectful leadership to Council.

For more than TWO YEARS, I have fought for a safer and more practical outcomes for Collins St. I have written countless opinion pieces in the Mercury, organised public meetings, gathered more than 2,000 petition signatures and ensured local voices were heard.

While we were outnumbered on the night of the major public meeting, my advocacy helped secure the return of parking spaces during the planning stage, while several problems I warned about have since led to parts of the trial being reversed.

Supporting small business means bringing people together, sharing knowledge and building connections.

Last night, I hosted Business Greater Hobart’s networking event at The Waggon, bringing local business owners and professionals together to connect, share experiences and support one another.

Thank you to guest speaker Michael Driessen from GDA Group for sharing his insights into planning for the future, and to everyone who joined us.

Together, we can help build a stronger local small business community.
