Good news!

Today I joined forces with Senator Anne Ruston to successfully block the Government’s changes to the private health insurance rebate!

This bill would have seen more than three million older Australians paying more for private health insurance, with some facing increases of hundreds of dollars a year.

And the worst part? Pensioners would have accounted for around $1.5 billion of the Government’s projected $3 billion in savings.

You DO NOT balance the budget on the backs of pensioners!

Our public hospitals are already at breaking point. The last thing we need is more Australians being forced to rely on an already overwhelmed system.

Older Australians can breathe a sigh of relief today!

What a wonderful celebration of our 15th anniversary! Honoured to have Maryanne and Lorraine travel to Tassie, plus Mary Hollingsworth and husband NI Area National councillor, local alderman Louise Bromley and mayor of Clarence, Brendan Blomeley. Our guest speaker was Senior Tasmanian of the Year who spoke about her school foods program.
53 members and friends attended. A bonus to have it acknowledged on The Mercury newspaper, front cover and page 11 article! Great exposure for our club! Here are some highlights…
