We’re excited to share that Plate It Forward has received support from to help grow our food rescue and community meal programs.

That means more high quality surplus ingredients rescued, more nutritious meals for communities experiencing food insecurity and less good food going to waste.

In 2025 alone, our community programs provided almost 120,000 meals and with greater access to surplus ingredients, we can continue growing that impact.

At a time when both food waste and cost of living pressures continue to rise, this work matters more than ever.

Huge thanks to the NSW Government for backing community led solutions that support both people and the planet.

If you’re a foodservice business, supplier or producer interested in supporting this work through surplus ingredients or partnership opportunities, we’d love to hear from you at [email protected]

Excited to share that we are part of the Sydney Community Foundation's “Love Where You Live” campaign, a matched giving initiative to strengthen social cohesion across Sydney, where every dollar donated will be matched, doubling its impact.

Through this campaign, you would be helping to create spaces where people can find connection, opportunity, dignity and a real sense of belonging.

If you would like to be part of it, donate here: https://scf-love-where-you-live.raiselysite.com/

This is a big one for us.

Plate It Forward has always been about creating equal opportunity around the table, using food as a way to open doors for people who have been locked out of work for far too long. Across our restaurants, we celebrate the skills, stories and flavours of the diverse cultures within our teams, creating spaces in the community where you can quite literally experience social change on a plate.

So to see recognised by with the Editors’ Pick – Impact Award at the Time Out Food & Drink Awards means a lot. Not just for the food, but for what sits behind it.

has built something special. A restaurant that’s not only a love letter to Bengali cuisine, but also a space that mentors incredible people from diverse backgrounds, mostly women, many stepping into their first roles in Australia, giving them a voice and real opportunity to grow.

Thank you to our incredible team, every one of our customers, and for this amazing recognition.

Creating meaningful change through food sits at the core of everything we do and love that SBS Food is putting a national spotlight on such a powerful movement.

Loved being part of this list of legends.

That’s a wrap!
What a year 2025 has been.

From meals shared across our venues and purpose-driven catering, to the opening of Kolkata Social, and hosting everyone who joined us at Mum Cha’s Bengali Brunches and the Third I Festival - it’s been a year shaped by generosity, connection and community.

A heartfelt thank you to our partners and the Sydney community for supporting what we do. We’re so grateful, and can’t wait to see what 2026 brings. 💙

We’re pumped to be teaming up with Sydney Thunder this season 🤝

Together, we’re turning big moments on the field into meaningful impact off it. For every run scored by a Thunder player at ENGIE Stadium, Plate It Forward is donating a meal to people doing it tough across Western Sydney.

To date, Plate It Forward has donated more than 620,000 meals across Sydney, while creating training and employment opportunities for people from marginalised communities. This partnership allows us to extend that impact even further, alongside a club that shares our commitment to community.

The runs-for-meals initiative is already underway, with more home games still to come:

🏏 Tuesday, December 30 | v Perth Scorchers
📍 ENGIE Stadium | ⏰ 7:15pm

🏏 Saturday, January 3 | v Hobart Hurricanes
📍 ENGIE Stadium | ⏰ 7:15pm

🏏 Monday, January 12 | v Melbourne Renegades
📍 ENGIE Stadium | ⏰ 7:15pm

Come down, cheer loud and help put meals on the table.

Marsden High School dropped into our kitchen with Connie and Shaun for a behind-the-scenes day at Plate It Forward catering HQ.

The students explored our commercial kitchen, asked thoughtful questions, learned how we operate behind the scenes and even made a batch of muffins with Chef Cammie and the team

Thanks to the Marsden crew for spending the day with us 👊

Earlier this year we joined Art Gallery NSW for Vivid Sydney Art After Hours, sharing an evening of flavour, culture, and community.

Our Plate It Forward crew served biryani, borani eggplant, kingfish ceviche, and seeni sambal tarts, with Tony and Jennifer hosting a live demo of Kyiv Social dumplings and Colombo Social ceviche.

Hani Abdile’s poetry moved the room, followed by a panel with Karyna, Roya, and Hani on resilience, identity, and the healing power of hospitality.

A special night captured by Enzo Amato (shared with permission from Art Gallery NSW).
Thank you to Emma Cao and Vivid Sydney for shining a light on our movement.
