We can see when a child is drawing, laughing with friends or reading a book. But we can’t always see what’s going on inside.

Growing up comes with big feelings, new experiences and plenty of ups and downs. Sometimes children need somewhere to express those feelings – a trusted person to talk to, a safe space to be themselves, or a way to express what’s going on through art, play, movement or conversation.

Our social and emotional learning programs give children space to explore their feelings, build relationships and express themselves.

Because sometimes, the biggest things happening in a child’s world are the things we can’t see. 💚

🌏📚 “Being a head teacher is another chapter for me.” After 37 years in the classroom, Amelia Eko is still learning.

Now leading a primary school in remote Central Province, Papua New Guinea, Amelia is putting decades of experience into practice in a new role. At 16, Bros Aun* knows what he wants to be: an engineer.

Not long ago, he was scared to go to school. He was teased because of his disability and struggled to keep up in class.

With support from ChildFund Cambodia and our local partner អង្គការខ្មែរដើម្បីការអប់រំ /Khmer NGO for Education, things began to change. Today, Bros Aun goes to school regularly, plays soccer with his friends and speaks up in class with confidence.

Born deaf, Srey Oun* spent years in a classroom where nobody spoke her language.

It wasn’t because she couldn’t learn or didn’t want to. She copied everything down in beautiful handwriting, doing her best to keep up. The classroom just wasn’t designed with her in mind.

Across rural Cambodia, children with disabilities still face barriers to education. With the right support, schools can become places where every child feels included and can learn.
