CW: mentions of family and domestic violence.

Across 2025, 80.5% of FDSV and Counselling Clients at Twenty10 had experienced some form of family, domestic, or sexualised violence. Today on LGBTQ Domestic Violence Awareness Day we want to continue shedding light on the important work of the LGBTQ DVA Foundation (.dvafoundation) in starting conversations about, and working to end, violence in our communities.

Twenty10 also offers training on how to support LGBTIQA+ folks experiencing FDSV. Head to twenty10.org.au/training

Slide1: LGBTQ+ Family & Domestic Violence Awareness Day. . CW: Discussions of family and domestic violence in the following slides. In 2025 80.5% of FDSV and Counselling Clients at Twenty10 had experienced some form of FDSV

Slide 2: Why is this important? Domestic and family violence (DFV) within LGBTIQA+ communities is still under-researched and under-reported. More than 60% of LGBTQ+ people will experience violence or abuse from an intimate partner or family member in their lifetime. 72% of LGBTQ+ people who experienced DFV did not report abuse.

This week we wrapped up a stellar project with ! With the support of artists, AP Pobjoy (of Homebodies fame) and Siobhan Gibbs (of Gogo fame), this talented crew of emerging filmmakers produced a gripping teaser for a q***r noir crime project called "Just The Girl" which follows Mx D, investigator and hacker, unravelling a mystery involving a lost dog, an evil landlord, missing party girl and suspicious Beth Friend.

Big thanks to Dorothy, Tabby, Yeng and Luna for sharing their creative genius with us and working together in such a collaborative and inspiring way.

This project was a partnership with Milk Crate Theatre and was supported by Multicultural NSW through the COMPACT program

Happy National Volunteer Week!

Twenty10 began as a volunteer organisation, and today volunteers continue to be a vital part of how we operate and connect with community.

This year the theme is 'Your Year to Volunteer'. Your Year to Volunteer honours the contributions of volunteers and invites people across Australia to make 2026 a year of meaningful involvement, in ways that work for them.

We can't thank all our volunteers enough - both past and present - but hope that we can help highlight how essential volunteers are to not only our organisation but our sector broadly.

This year is a moment to thank those who already give their time and to invite others to discover how volunteering can create connection, purpose, and lasting positive change.
