🎉 Congratulations to Tazin Ahmed, our final finalist for the 2026 Study NT International Student Awards – Alum of the Year category! 🎉

Originally from Bangladesh, Tazin is a Charles Darwin University graduate whose journey reflects resilience, leadership and a passion for creating opportunities for others across the Northern Territory.

Drawing on experience in higher education, education consulting, academia and healthcare, Tazin now serves as a Student Recruitment Officer at the Canterbury Institute of Management, where she helps prospective students discover the opportunities available in the Territory. Her professional journey highlights the diverse pathways international graduates can pursue while making meaningful contributions to their communities.

Beyond her professional role, Tazin is passionate about mentoring, volunteering and community leadership. Through her advocacy and engagement, she champions the Northern Territory as an inclusive and welcoming destination where international students can study, build successful careers and make lasting contributions. Her commitment to supporting others continues to inspire current and future students to pursue their goals and embrace the opportunities available in the NT.

Congratulations, Tazin, on this well-deserved recognition and for the outstanding contribution you continue to make to the Northern Territory as a professional and proud international alum. 👏

Whilst delivering Club Development seminars in Darwin this weekend PDG Simon Westwood took the opportunity to present a Follow Your Dream award to Lion Andrew Kent of Darwin Casuarina Lions Club.

The award supports the Follow your Dream Foundation, which focuses its effort on children with disabilities. Simon knows that this is something close to Andrew’s heart, and it was a fitting award to present to a passionate Lion with amazing whole of community focus.

It was an absolute privilege and pleasure tonight to present to Lion Jeff Dunn, a member of the Lions Club of Darwin Casuarina, by Assistant District Governor Melinda Fogden, with a 50 year monarch service award, together with a 50 year service medal from the Australian Lions Foundation (ALF).

Many of the Club members were present to celebrate and recognise Jeff's service, as well as Happy Birthday to birthdays celebrations (with 2 cakes) for Jeff, his wife Kaye 80th birthday and another member, Jennie Copley

In Loving Memory of Delma Swan
Today, as we mark the first anniversary of the passing of our dear friend and fellow Lion, Delma Swan, we pause to reflect on a life that embodied service, kindness, and unwavering dedication to others.
Delma was more than a member of the Darwin Casuarina Lions Club; she was a cherished friend, mentor, and source of inspiration. Her commitment to the Lions motto, “We Serve,” was evident in everything she did. Whether volunteering at community events, supporting those in need, or offering a listening ear and words of encouragement, Delma touched countless lives with her generosity and compassion.
Her warmth, infectious smile, and genuine care for others created lasting memories for all who had the privilege of knowing her. Delma’s presence brought people together, and her dedication strengthened our club and the wider community. She led not through words alone, but through her actions, demonstrating the true meaning of service above self.
Although a year has passed since her departure, Delma’s legacy continues to live on in the work we do, the friendships she nurtured, and the lives she helped improve. We are reminded that while we deeply miss her companionship and guidance, her spirit remains an enduring part of our Lions family.
On this anniversary, we honour Delma with gratitude for her contributions, respect for her character, and appreciation for the lasting impact she made. Her memory inspires us to continue serving our community with the same passion, kindness, and generosity that she demonstrated throughout her life.
To Delma’s family and loved ones, we extend our continued thoughts and heartfelt support. May you find comfort in knowing that Delma is fondly remembered and greatly missed by all whose lives she touched.
Gone from our sight, but never from our hearts.

Dawn hadn’t even broken up, but our hearts were already wide awake…

Pink ribbons on our shirts, purpose in our steps, an honour moment was shining up in the sky.

At the Mother’s Day Classic, every cheer, every water cup, every high-five was for the women who taught us strength.

It was an amazing and festive season in volunteering for Mother's Day Classic ✨ 🎇.

This volunteering season has been meaningful and really enjoyable one ✨.

At dawn today, We were honoured to attend the service and remember them. 🌹

Anzac Day isn’t about glorifying war. It’s about remembering the people who stood up when their country asked. The young, the brave, the ones who never came home, and those who did but were never the same.🎇
