Join us for a Biochar workshop! 30th May 1-4pm @ Woopi Gardens!

Making biochar is not complicated, and the soil microbiology will love you for it. Weโ€™ll look at the difference between biochar and wood ash and explain why biochar is one of the best soil additives you can use, both for your own garden and for the environment. We'll explore what kinds of wood or bamboo to use, how to do it safely, and how to activate it, with practical demonstrations of the various stages in the process, and a "here's one we made earlier" final product to show you how it turns out after it has cooled down from the firing process.
This is not a highly technical workshop but offers a hands on low tech method that gives a good return for effort and great results.
A fact sheet will be provided on the day
Come along and enjoy the lovely surrounds of the Woopi Gardens, afternoon tea included!
Cost $20 - General Admission,
$15 Woopi Gardens Members Price
tickets available from Everbrite

Today we celebrated our beautiful Coffs Regional Community Gardens and the installation of our fabulous new solar panels, battery bank, lights and fans, made possible by a grant from Coffs Council. The Comittee and some members enjoyed morning tea and a stroll around the gardens. We were also delighted to welcome Andrea from NOTA to record the occasion. Sadly no one from council was free to join us but we are very grateful for the ongoing support of Coffs Council.

Thanks to a grant from Coffs Council a solar panel and battery upgrade has been installed at Coffs Regional Community Gardens . This new system not only gives the garden more power but on a practical level means the water pump and other appliances should run much more efficiently. Thanks to Mega Watt Coffs Harbour for the installation work they did.

Great projects underway at Coffs Harbour Regional Community Garden. This work is part of the toilet refurb project which will create much better access around the garden. Here are some before and after photos of the new path through the mandala which has been a central feature of the garden. Thanks to the amazing team of volunteers who have barrowed and hand poured the concrete paths.
