Our Growing Connections Program wrapped up yesterday with many laughs and high energy shared over lunch together.

Ruby has facilitated this Program over the year, providing women and non-binary people with opportunities to gain training and hands-on experience in hospitality.

Together, as part of the Growing Connections Program, participants have:
- Gained their Food handling certificates
- Completed Barista training
- Learnt basic cooking skills
- Participated in industry specific excursions
- Hosted two of our Wednesday community lunches
- Co-hosted the RSNH Market, coordinating the Cafe

This Program has also provided paid employment opportunities for some of our volunteers, and other members of the RSNH community. It's been a great asset to the House, expanding activities in our commercial kitchen, and further strengthening what we do well.

Our Plant & Cafe Market on Saturday was an absolute hit! There were so many of you throughout the morning, a steady flow that kept us smiling and on our feet in a good, busy way. The vibes were high with a warming, positive energy that was felt throughout the House.

It was wonderful to see a mix of new and familiar faces, garden enthusiasts united.
We were lucky enough to share the space with West Brunswick Community Garden and you Max who was selling his beautiful art pieces, which nearly all sold out!

A big thank you to our garden and cafe volunteers, who tirelessly assisted in the lead-up and on the day of the Market. Jo and Ruby have ever so brilliantly created a welcoming space for participants to learn and grow in the Growing Connections and Seeds of Change programs. Their dedication and hard work really made the market possible.

Thanks to our funders Collier Charitable Fund, Melbourne Airport, Sisters of Charity and Inner North Community Foundation for supporting RSNH and enabling these programs and the Market to take place.

And thank you to each of you for coming along and supporting our humble, and mighty community initiative.

We plan to bring more markets and similar initiatives your way in the coming year- watch this space!

The many faces and hands of our wonderful participants who have dedicated their time and energy to bring tomorrow's RSNH Market to life!

Our horticulture and hospitality programs have provided the opportunity for many women and non-binary people to connect, collaborate, and put into practice what they've learned in the garden and kitchen.

It means that our Market is not only about cute little seedlings and delicious food, it's more than that.

It's an opportunity to support community-driven action that centres people and the environment as fundamental.

It means coming along and putting your money back into the local economy to support your community.

It's about coming along and supporting the important, tireless work that all of these fabulous humans have contributed.

Support a circular economy that puts people before profit and nature before greed.

Come along from 10am for your morning coffee, grab some seedlings for home, eat delicious snacks, and stay for the conversations.

We wrapped up the week with our Annual General Meeting (AGM), and what a wonderful afternoon it was!

It was an opportunity to reflect on the year that was, filled with significant change, challenges and incredible achievements.

The House was filled with familiar faces, bringing together local community, House participants, volunteers, staff and Committee of Management members.

We’d also like to acknowledge the contribution of CoM members Dung as Chair, Ilona and Derya, as the AGM marked their last day as CoM members. They have helped guide the House over the past three years, providing strong leadership and guidance and support.

We’re thrilled to announce existing CoM member Frances as the elected Chair and welcome new CoM members Amar, Erin and Olivia.
We’re happy to have you all onboard and look forward to working together closely!

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the afternoon so special, joyful and memorable.

We were thrilled to hear so many attendees share that it was the best AGM they’d ever attended.

Following the formalities, we were treated to a beautiful performance by the talented Samra and Steve, who gifted us with a unique fusion of classical Indian and jazz music.

The atmosphere was buzzing, the sun was shining and as always, the food was delicious.

Thank you to Ruby, and our volunteers Mandy and Makita for creating such delicious food for everyone to enjoy!

On the 26 September, the last of our Miso Making workshop took place. It was
a rainy Saturday afternoon, AFL Grand Final Day—and a lovely group of cool, alternative souls gathered to make miso.

We kicked off warm tea in hand, diving into the science and art of fermentation. Through tasting different misos side-by-side, everyone experienced how time transforms raw ingredients into deep, complex flavours.

Between sharing hands-on tips and soaking in the incredible frequency of the room, each person crafted and took home their very own batch to age.

To complete the experience, we settled in together for a heartwarming time over steaming cups of brown rice hojicha, paired with homemade miso hummus served with crackers and veggie sticks, alongside baked miso cheesecake—both a huge hit!

It was such a vibrant and wonderful afternoon, filled with endless curiosity and so many great questions.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and brought such great energy.
