MEET OUR SPEAKERS 👀🍺🍻🔬✨
From space and satellites to chemistry, rocks, quantum physics, and the mysteries of the Universe. Science in the Pub is bringing together an amazing lineup of local scientists and engineers for a night of short, fun, accessible talks. Each speaker will give a 10-minute talk followed by Q&A, so it’s the perfect chance to hear about real research in a relaxed setting.

Join us on Thursday 2 April 2026 at Badger & Co, ANU, with a 6:30 PM start. Come for the science, stay for the conversations, and meet the brilliant people behind the research. The event page currently lists speakers including Anntonette Dailey, Dr Craig Benson, Alan Chan, Bianca Hodges, Jarell Cubarrubia, Meghan Gossayn, Sheil Sequeira, and more.

This International Women’s Day, AstroSoc is proud to stand behind the theme Balance the Scales.

For us, balancing the scales means making AstroSoc a place where women* can learn, teach, lead, and back themselves, while helping create a stronger astronomy community and inspiring future girls in STEM to reach for the stars.

Women* belong everywhere in STEM: in every classroom, every lab, every observatory, and every frontier still waiting to be explored. Supporting women* in STEM is a job for all of us. If you have the skills, time, or experience, use them to lift others up through mentoring, volunteering, and helping create spaces where women* feel supported to thrive.

Over the past five years, AstroSoc has had four presidents, three of whom have been women. That’s something we’re proud of, and something we want to keep building on.

We’re proud to be part of a future shaped by the next generation of women scientists, astronomers, engineers, and space professionals.

Happy International Women’s Day.

That’s a wrap for 2025

What a year it’s been. From hosting the Space & Astronomy Symposium with NASA, JPL, and the U.S. Embassy Canberra, to teaming up with other ANU societies to explore how space connects across every discipline, we’ve had an incredible journey together.

And of course, our regular stargazing nights, full of laughter, telescopes, and probably too much ice cream, have kept us grounded and inspired.

None of this would have been possible without the amazing ANU community. Thank you for showing up, staying curious, and always looking up with us.

A special thank you to Sam, Bella, and Alan for their amazing work leading the executive team this year. We’re also so proud to have won the Most Unique Events Award at the ANU Clubs Awards — a small reminder of how creativity and collaboration can make science shine.

To the outgoing 2025 committee, thank you for everything you’ve built. To the incoming 2026 team, we can’t wait to see where you take us next.

See you all next year under the stars.

What a week! Members of ANU Astronomy Society joined eight thousands of scientists, engineers, and students at — the world’s largest space conference, right here in Sydney, Australia! 🇦🇺🛰️

Across ten incredible days, we explored some of the biggest questions shaping the future of space:
🌿 How can we keep space sustainable and free of debris?
🌍 How do we ensure diversity, inclusion, and accessibility are part of every mission?
📜 What’s next for the International Space Treaty and the commercialisation of orbit?

And of course, our very own Alan Chan took to the stage with a presentation, representing AstroSoc and ANU among delegates from across the globe. 🙌🌠

Huge thanks to everyone we met, from students to industry leaders, the energy, curiosity, and passion for exploration were out of this world. 💫

We thanks and SEEF for their support.
