Get your free Expo pass! We’re thrilled to announce we’re hosting the 2026 Electrify Your Life Expo on Sunday October 11th, 10am-4pm at Hawthorn Arts Centre, delivered with our event partner City of Boroondara!

For the 4th year in a row we’re excited to bring an innovative, exciting (and free!) community wide event where you can learn, explore and find practical advice on switching to electric at home. We’ve designed this event to offer many ways to help local households with:

⚡️Lowering your energy bills
⚡️Trying before you buy - see the latest tech in action
⚡️Making your home more comfortable in summer, winter and extreme weather
⚡️Reducing your environmental impact
⚡️Connecting with your neighbours and community who have already made the switch and can share their experiences

Whether you’re curious about solar, changing from gas to electric at home, or simply looking for ways to save money, there’s something for everyone - including renters and people living in apartments!

By popular demand - we’re hosting a hydronic heating deep dive! Join us for this free webinar to learn how to switch your hydronic heating from gas to electric.

Got gas radiators or in-slab heating and wondering how to get off gas? Whether you’re ready to act now or just starting to explore your options, join us to learn more!

🎤 Two experts will be joining us:

-Tim from Powrhouse, who will bring a practical perspective on costs, rebates and decision-making
-Steve from Peninsula Hydronic Heating, a specialist designer and installer who will tackle the technical questions head-on — from flow temperature and radiator sizing through to what’s available in the Australian market today.

🌟We’ll also hear from Boroondara neighbours from inner eastern Melbourne who have already made the switch.

There will be dedicated time for your questions, and you can also submit questions during the event in the Zoom Q&A window and we’ll answer them as we go.

Help shape our future programs & events! As a group of community members supporting our broader community to electrify, save money on energy bills and reduce emissions, we’re always looking for the best ways to accelerate the transition to a clean energy future in an equitable and efficient way.

Over the last six months, Electrify Boroondara volunteers & Committee members have come together on several occasions to review and strengthen our strategy, making sure it keeps us on course to help our community transition to clean energy.

One outcome of those sessions is that we’re proud to launch our first community survey, aimed at gathering your perspectives on what kind of assistance Boroondara & Melbourne households want as they move along their electrification journeys. We’re keen to shape our future programs and events based on the results.

Are you curious about options for heating your home without gas?⚡🏠✅ In Victoria, 40% of our energy usage goes toward heating our homes, so switching to heat pump technology can significantly cut your energy usage and bills.

Join our home heating webinar on Tuesday 28 July at 7:30pm to hear from two electric heating experts, Tim Johnston from Powrhouse and Drew Wormald from Pro Temp Air Solutions, on the various options available and what you may need to consider.

We’ll also hear from local householders who have made the switch to:
-Reverse cycle split system air conditioners (heat pumps)
-Ducted heat pump heating/cooling systems
-Heat pump hydronic heating

There will be presentations followed by Q&A, bring your questions and join the conversation!

Heat pump technology is incredibly efficient, up to 600%, meaning a small amount of energy produces a large amount of heat, lowering your bills and keeping you more comfortable. Don’t forget the air conditioner installed for cooling in summer is usually an efficient heater in winter. Just remember to check and clean filters every 6 months.

Community, climate action, practical tips ✅ We had so much fun hosting this free local session in Boroondara as part of the Melbourne Community Electrification Roadshow - our recent event “Does a Battery Make Sense for me”

After the main expert panel, we invited three local residents on stage to share their firsthand experiences with getting home batteries, followed by a lively Q&A.

✅ Key takeaway: deciding whether to install a battery can feel confusing, but it starts with understanding your own needs: your energy use, solar setup, ideal battery size and whether it makes financial sense for your home.

We also had many of our amazing volunteers at our stall chatting to local residents about our free programs and resources to help households switch to electric.

This event was part of the Melbourne Community Electrification Roadshow, an exciting six-month series running through May 2026.

We’re proud to be one of 15 community groups involved, and to partner with , & to bring it to life.

Batteries, scones, and more than 100 new faces 🌟 We recently welcomed a big crowd at Hawthorn Arts Centre for our event: Melbourne Electrification Roadshow: Does a Battery Make Sense for me ?🏠🔋🌍

It was an engaging morning filled with practical tips & discussions over morning tea ☕️

⚡️Hundreds of conversations about all electric homes⚡️We had a big day at the Glenferrie Festival recently in Hawthorn!

The Electrify Boroondara volunteer team had a great time chatting to so many festival attendees about all things electric - we fielded a wide range of questions about why switching to electric in your home is better, how to get started, and how we can help.

There was a strong interest in our Home Energy Guides program and many conversations about solar, batteries and solar on heritage homes!

This exciting annual event is always a highlight of the community calendar in eastern Melbourne - with hundreds of stalls and people from nearby and across the city visiting to support local businesses, artisans and community groups, and enjoy a fun day out with the family.

Thank you to the organisers Glenferrie Traders Association & City of Boroondara for running another terrific festival!
