In recognition of 🏳️‍🌈 Pride Month 2026 🏳️‍🌈 we are pleased to promote the ‘LGBTIQA+ and living with Parkinson’s’ online course, available at no cost, on the Fight Parkinson’s Community Learning Hub.

Although this 15 minute course was originally designed for members of the LGBTIQA+ community living with Parkinson’s, their families, and for their supporters, it may also prove helpful for those who wish to understand more about this community, the difficulties they face in the healthcare system, and how you can become an ally.

Enrol in the course today to learn:
🌈 Your rights as a member of a minority group
🌈 Legal protections, e.g. enduring power of attorney and medical treatment decision maker, advance care directive (or plan), wills and funeral plans
🌈 Potential added challenges for transgender people, and much more.

Whether you’re a member of—or caring for someone who is a member of—the LGBTIQA+ and Parkinson’s communities, or an individual looking to learn more, Pride Month is a great time to educate yourself via the Fight Parkinson’s Community Learning Hub.

Visit https://tr.ee/dZ0kv6 to complete the free ‘LGBTIQA+ and living with Parkinson’s’ online course.

Today, Peter is still working. Still living a full life.

That’s thanks to the right support, made possible by you.

In addition to receiving and accessing trusted information, services, and connection, Peter was also introduced to Young@Park—a peer support group for others going through similar experiences.

“Meeting people in my situation, at my age group, with my same symptoms… that’s been the biggest game changer for me,” says Peter.

Please visit https://tr.ee/jR3ijC to learn more about Peter’s journey with Parkinson’s and donate to be the reason someone like Peter receives the support they need when everything feels uncertain. 💙

To wrap up PSP Awareness Month, Fight Parkinson’s is pleased to share a personal story of lived experience from Michelle, and her husband and carer, Mark.

Diagnosed in 2024, Michelle felt devastated after learning that Progressive Supranuclear Palsy cannot be cured and has an average life expectancy of approximately 7 years post diagnosis—the rate of progression varying significantly from person to person.

But by leaning into her creative interests to publish helpful resources on PSP for others, embracing normalcy and routine with her husband of 38 years, and accessing the support of an Atypical Parkinson’s peer support group through Fight Parkinson’s, Michelle continues to try and find peace with her diagnosis.

Inspired by her dad’s Parkinson’s diagnosis in 2005, Fight Parkinson’s community member, Sharon, has raised over $7,500 during her second Trivia Night Fundraiser.

Taking place in her backyard deck area, 80 guests attended the evening to participate in music-themed trivia, raffles, and auctions—all to help ensure that Fight Parkinson’s continues to provide education, research, and support to the Parkinson’s community.

Recalling the night, Sharon stated, “Dad was front and centre and seeing him surrounded by so much love and support truly meant everything… Parkinson's affects so many more families than people realise, and if our little trivia night can raise funds and spark even one meaningful conversation, then it's all worthwhile.”

Thank you to Sharon for her ongoing support, and to all those who donated to her fundraiser with such generosity 💙
