Sometimes the person who looks the toughest on the outside is fighting a very different battle underneath.

Former St Kilda footballer Steve Baker speaks openly about losing his football career, the death of his father, the later loss of his close mate Shane Warne, and the periods when grief and isolation took him to some very dark places.

One of the biggest lessons he learned was also one of the hardest:

asking for help.

“Putting your hand up and saying you’re struggling, that was hard and tough to do.”

For Steve, rebuilding involved movement, connection, good mates and finding a new sense of purpose.

His story is a reminder that mental fitness isn’t about never struggling. It’s about continuing to build the things that help us respond when life gets hard.

Community Stories | Ali Wilson

Every story has the power to help someone else.

Ali Wilson's story is one of resilience—not because life has been easy, but because she has continued to move forward through every challenge.

Living with Type 1 diabetes while pursuing elite athletics has taught Ali valuable lessons about vulnerability, connection and mental fitness.

We're grateful to share her story as part of our Community Stories series and hope it encourages others to keep building their own mental fitness, one step at a time.

MEN'S HEALTH WEEK 💙

Men's health is about more than physical fitness.

In Australia:
▪️ Around 75% of su***de deaths are men
▪️ 1 in 2 men will experience a mental health disorder during their lifetime

The good news? Small actions can make a big difference.
