Thank you to everyone who joined us in Darwin, in person or in spirit from afar, for this year’s Candlelight Memorial, and to all those who engaged with and supported events across Australia. 🕯️
Community members came together to remember the lives lost to HIV/AIDS, honour people living with HIV, and reflect on the strength, resilience and advocacy that continues within our communities.
We are incredibly grateful to everyone who attended, shared stories, wrote tribute names and messages, placed flowers and candles, and took time to be present together in remembrance and solidarity. Your support helps continue important conversations around HIV awareness, community connection and ending stigma.
As we reflect on this year’s memorial, we also remind our communities of the importance of Undetectable = Untransmittable (U=U). People living with HIV who maintain an undetectable viral load through effective treatment cannot pass HIV on to others. This message continues to change lives, reduce stigma and support healthier communities through knowledge, treatment and care.
Unfortunately, due to rain, the Alice Springs Todd Mall Markets stall and event was cancelled. We are currently exploring options to attend an upcoming market day with our community stall so we can continue sharing messages of remembrance, hope and awareness with the Alice Springs community.
NTAHC also extends sincere thanks to our Board, staff, members, patron, funders, stakeholders and community partners who continue to support this work across the Northern Territory.
