Founded in 1949 as the Catholic Italian Welfare Association as the first Italian association to assist in the growing population of Italians arriving to SA. In 1967 under the auspices of the Italian Vice-Consul the South Australian Italian Association was created to assist and create a social hub and cater for the large Italian community in SA. At present it is now home to the Italian Centre which proudly houses three peak Italian community organisations that are; Com.It.Es South Australia, Co.As.It and the Dante Alighieri Society.
