Organised by the Italian Consulate in Adelaide, this special celebration brings together the Italian-Australian community and dignitaries, to recognise the rich cultural heritage and lasting contributions of Italians to South Australia. It is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on our shared history, celebrate our traditions, and strengthen the bonds between Italy and Australia.

🇮🇹 80° Anniversario della Repubblica Italiana 🇮🇹
2 giugno 1946 – 2 giugno 2026

Today marks a double historic milestone: the 80th anniversary of the Italian Republic and the first time Italian women voted in a national election.

On 2 June 1946, Italians chose the Republic through a democratic referendum, laying the foundations for a nation built on freedom, participation, and democratic values.

It was also the first national election in which Italian women exercised their right to vote, marking a historic step towards equality and inclusion.

Eighty years later, we continue to honour the principles of democracy, inclusion, solidarity, human dignity, and civic participation that remain at the heart of the Republic.

What a wonderful celebration of music, culture, and community by the OZITALIAN Community Choir at Fogolar Furlan's "Songs of Italy – From the Alps to the Islands" event.

Through the universal language of song, the choir took audiences on a remarkable journey across Italy's diverse regions, showcasing the rich traditions, stories, and cultural heritage that connect generations. Music has a unique power to bring people together, foster understanding, and strengthen community bonds, and this performance was a beautiful example of that spirit in action.

Congratulations to all choir members, musicians, organisers, and volunteers for sharing the beauty of Italian culture and reminding us how singing can unite people across backgrounds, regions, and generations.

Una splendida serata dedicata ai nuovi arrivati italiani in Australia 🇦🇺🇮🇹

Grazie di cuore a tutte le persone che hanno partecipato al nostro seminario informativo, condividendo interesse, domande ed esperienze. È stato bello vedere così tanta partecipazione e voglia di creare connessioni nella nostra comunità. Il networking tra migranti già stabiliti, con le loro professioni ed esperienze, e i nuovi arrivati è importantissimo per aiutare le persone a sentirsi accolte, orientate e supportate nel loro percorso in Australia.

Un ringraziamento speciale al Department of State Development e in particolare a Sonya Paterson, per la sua presentazione chiara, completa ed estremamente utile sulle opportunità e i percorsi disponibili per chi si trasferisce in Australia.

Grazie anche al Vice Console Giovanni Segre per il suo saluto e benvenuto durante la serata.

We are grateful to the newspaper Allora! for covering the Festa della Liberazione and for highlighting the participation of young people by featuring photos of the students and teachers in the article.

A special moment of the program was dedicated to the younger generation, with the recognition of the two Com.It.Es. SA/SACE awardee students who actively participated to the commemoration: Abby O’Brien (St Mary’s College) and Tommy Jovanovic (St Michael’s College). They were accompanied by their Italian teachers, Catrina Tridente and Sara Giglio.

The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is currently reviewing the Rai Italia television service in Australia for the period 1 February 2025 – 31 January 2026.

To support this process, we are gathering feedback from the Italian community in South Australia and invite you to share your experience.

We would like to hear your views on any or all points:
• the quality and relevance of RAI content
• signal and service quality
• access to RAI channels, including areas where Rai Italia may not be available
• new Rai Italia productions broadcast in 2025, such as Paparazzi, Casa Italia, and Italians
• sports programming
• user costs and subscription concerns
• any technical or transmission issues

We also welcome suggestions, positive feedback, and constructive criticism.
