Congratulations to the Anzano Social Club on its 50th anniversary

50 Years of friendship, culture and community spirit: since 1976, the Club has brought generations together to share traditions, enjoy wonderful food and music, and celebrate a proud cultural heritage.

This special anniversary honours five decades of cherished memories, and, above all, the people who have shaped the Club into the warm and welcoming community we all observed at such a wonderful event.

Congratulations to President Antonio Colella, his board and volunteers, and all the people who contributed since 1976.

Celebrating 800 Years of the Legacy of Saint Francis of Assisi

Congratulations to the SA Dante Alighieri Society for a memorable commemoration of the 800th anniversary of the death of Saint Francis of Assisi: one of history’s most revered saints and an enduring symbol of peace, humility and compassion.

The evening featured an insightful presentation on Saint Francis’s life and continuing relevance, an exploration of the Cammino di San Francesco, the Saint Francis pilgrimage route through Italy, and moving musical performance of the Cantico delle Creature.

We were reminded of Saint Francis’s extraordinary legacy and of the words traditionally attributed to him:

“Start by doing what is necessary; then do what is possible; and suddenly you are doing the impossible.”

What a meaningful way to honour Saint Francis, 800 years after his death.

Electoral packs will be sent only to voters who register with the Consulate by 4 November 2026.

Com.It.Es. Elections: Preparation and Submission of Electoral Lists

All guidance on preparing and submitting electoral lists is available on the Consulate’s website:

The collection of signatures, subscription of lists and authentication of signatures may begin immediately.

Electoral lists must be submitted between the 20th and 30th day following the decree officially calling the elections, issued by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Marcello Costa Memorial Scholarship 2026

The Dante Alighieri Society of South Australia has established the Marcello Costa Memorial Scholarship to honour the legacy of the late Professor Marcello Costa and to encourage and support the study of the Italian language in South Australia.

Applications for the 2026 Marcello Costa Memorial Scholarship are now open.

Protecting the Voice of Italians Abroad

Com.It.Es. SA and InterCom.It.Es. Australia oppose the recent electoral reform approved by the Italian Parliament (Lower House) – yet to go to the Senate. This reform significantly reduces the regional representation of Italians living overseas.

The reform reduces the Chamber of Deputies' overseas electoral divisions from four to two: Europe and the Rest of the World (combining the Americas, Africa, Asia, Oceania and Antarctica). And it creates a single worldwide electoral district for the Senate.

These changes are expected to weaken the connection between elected representatives and the communities they serve.

Com.It.Es SA and InterCom.It.Es Australia have written to the Italian authorities to express their concerns and advocate for strong, accessible, and effective representation for Italians abroad.

– SA Consular Register of Associations

In preparation for the 2026 Com.It.Es. elections, the Italian Consulate in Adelaide has invited all active Italian associations in South Australia to verify their registration and review the requirements, documentation, registration process, and key deadlines.

Maintaining an up-to-date register is also important for the appointment of co-opted Com.It.Es. members in the next term and for the election of the Australian representative to the General Council of Italians Abroad (Consiglio Generale degli Italiani all'Estero – CGIE).
