A Village Co bag is more than what's inside it๐Ÿ’›

It's a reminder that no mother should have to navigate early motherhood alone.

Inside are practical essentials, but the support doesn't stop there. Each bag can open the door to connection, trusted services and a village that continues to show up long after it's received.

This EOFY, your gift can help lift the weight for one more mother. Donations of $2 or more are tax deductible.

Last week, we gathered our core sponsors and supporters for Because of You, an evening to look back on what this village has made possible and to dream forward together.
Because of you, vulnerable mothers across South Australia are met with dignity, connection and care during some of the most tender moments of their lives. Because of you, we can continue showing up for mums and families, and extend our reach to help even further. To everyone who has supported The Village Co, thank you for being part of the village.
If your organisation believes in early support for families who need it most, weโ€™d love to start a conversation this EOFY. DM us or visit thevillageco.org ๐Ÿค

She was rushed from regional South Australia to Adelaide. She had nothing ready for her baby.

Then a Village Co bag was placed in her hands. This is what she wrote to us afterwards:

"Thank you so much for the stuff. It's been a pleasure receiving the bag, especially since I was rushed from Mount Gambier to Adelaide being very unprepared. The bag has come in handy and has definitely taken some weight off my shoulders. I thought I wasn't gonna be able to provide just some essentials for myself and my child, so I really do appreciate it. Thank you so much."

Her words are a powerful reminder of why this work matters.

That's why we're asking our community to help lift the weight for more mothers facing a difficult start to parenthood this EOFY.

Today we're launching our End of Financial Year appeal.

A few weeks ago, a mother who had been rushed to Adelaide to give birth wrote to us. She shared that receiving a Welcome Babe bag had "definitely taken some weight off my shoulders."

That sentence has stayed with us.

This June, we're asking our community to help lift the weight for more mothers facing a difficult start to parenthood.

Donations of $2 or more are tax deductible, and every gift, no matter the size, helps provide practical support, connection, and care when it's needed most.

We had the team from SHAPE SA visit our warehouse recently for a great packing session, and they jumped straight in to pack bags and sort essentials for local mums and babies ๐Ÿ’›

Another reminder of how lucky we are to have businesses that genuinely get behind their community. Thank you to the whole team for getting involved!

We recently attended the Employee Foundation Annual Gratitude Meeting 2025 at SA Power Networks ๐Ÿ’›

Hearing about the impact being created across so many South Australian communities was incredibly inspiring, and we felt so proud to see The Village Co included among this yearโ€™s charity partners.
From supporting the launch of our regional bag delivery service to volunteering in our warehouse, the SA Power Networks team continues to show up for local mums and families in such meaningful ways, including another recent packing session with their team!

We had such a great time and it was another reminder of the incredible community we have around us.

This is long. Please read it anyway ๐Ÿค

A first-time mum wrote to us:

"All I can say is thank you over and over again. My situation isn't particularly common, and knowing there are people out there who care enough to help me with things for my newborn son, my first and most likely only child, it makes a world of difference."

"New products to try, new things to give him, things for him and for me. It lets me know that there is support out there, but it also reminds me that I am more than a milk machine. I'm a person still too."

"Thank you. Endlessly, thank you."

We talk a lot about practical support, the essentials, the nappies, the shower supplies. But this is what we're really delivering: the reminder, to a woman in one of the most depleting seasons of her life, that she is still a person.

That's what our volunteers build. Not bags. Personhood. Dignity. The sense of still being seen.

To every volunteer who has ever picked something out, packed something in, or written something kind, thank you for reminding her too โ™ก

A mum we supported wrote this:

"I appreciate you. I'm at a very low point in my life and even just the card on the bag made me feel like I mattered."

Just the card.

Not the nappies. Not the wipes. Not the value of what was inside.

The card.

To every volunteer who has ever sat down, hole punched, cut ribbon, tied on the cards or handwritten a note for a stranger, please read that again. That's what your time does.

You make people feel like they matter. There is no higher work.
