These photos capture something we’re seeing more and more at our Western Food Hub.

The line is getting longer.

Not because people have suddenly become dependent. But because life has become harder.

Every week we find ourselves making extra trips, chasing more fruit, more bread and more pantry items, hoping we have enough for everyone who walks through our doors.

And here’s something we are incredibly proud of:

We don’t ask people to prove they’re struggling.

No forms.
No referrals.
No explaining their trauma.
No need to share details they would rather keep private.

Because we know how hard it can be to ask for help in the first place.

Some people who come to us have never needed support before. They are working, studying, raising children, caring for others and simply trying to make ends meet.

We believe everyone deserves dignity.

If you need help, come.
If you want to stay anonymous, that’s okay too.
If you can help, we’d love to have you beside us.

Because tough times can happen to anyone, and nobody should have to choose between putting food on the table and protecting their pride. ❤️

Some people donate a prize.
Some people donate their time.
And then there are people like David. ❤️

At our Gala, David from Dapper Chap Gin generously donated an incredible auction prize. But that’s just who he is.

Today he popped into the office to collect a few items he’d won in the silent auction and, completely unexpectedly, gifted Bailee and Mel this beautiful bottle of Long Lunch Gin just because.

Honestly… can you get any kinder than that?

What people don’t always see is that David isn’t just generous with gifts. He’s one of the first to send a message when something significant happens at Puddle Jumpers. He celebrates the wins, checks in during the tough times, and genuinely cares about the children and families we support.

The people in our corner make all the difference, and we are incredibly lucky to have David in ours.

Thank you for your kindness, your generosity and your big heart. We can’t wait to crack open this beauty and enjoy a Long Lunch in your honour! 🍸💚

David, you’re an absolute legend. x

🔑 DO WE STILL NEED KEYS? 🔑

YES! YES! YES!

We’ve done another count and guess what… we’re still around 1,200 keys short of our goal of 4,900 keys.

Why 4,900?

Because right now, there are approximately 4,900 children and young people living in out-of-home care in South Australia.

This isn’t just an art project or a display. Every key represents a child. A child who deserves safety. Stability. Love. A place to belong. A future full of hope.

So if you’ve been wondering:

🔑 Old keys? Yes please!
🔑 New keys? Absolutely!
🔑 Bent keys? We’ll take them!
🔑 Funny-shaped keys? Even better!
🔑 Keys that no longer open anything? Perfect!

Because these keys aren’t about what they unlock anymore.

They’re about what every child deserves to unlock:
❤️ Safety
❤️ Stability
❤️ Love
❤️ Hope
❤️ A forever sense of belonging

We are so incredibly close now, and we’d love your help to get us over the line.

Drop your keys to:

❤️ Kilkenny – Warehouse, Unit 2/66 Humphries Terrace
💜 Hindmarsh – Food Hub, 266A Port Road
💛 Hindmarsh – Op Shop, 300 Port Road
💚 Glandore – Office, 52 Pleasant Avenue
💙 Mile End – Op Shop, 58 Henley Beach Road
🧡 Queenstown – Op Shop, 137 Port Road

4,900 keys for 4,900 children.

Let’s do this together. 🗝️✨

This is what a village looks like. ❤️

Last night, we shared that a young mum and her little boy, fleeing domestic violence and living in a hotel, needed help.

And once again, our village showed up.

Not just the people who commented, “I can help.”

But the volunteers behind the scenes answering messages late into the evening.

The team who coordinated donations.

The people from our community who dropped off nappies, clothes, toys, snacks and essentials.

The volunteers at our Western Food Hub who packed bags overflowing with kindness.

And then there was young Jayden and his mum Sarah, who headed out shopping to make sure this little boy had clothes, toys and special things just for him. Jayden even spent some of his own money because he wanted to help another child who was doing it tough. ❤️

If you ever wonder whether kindness still exists, look at these photos.

Today, the mum sent us this message:

“I just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone in the community who helped my son and me tonight. The nappies, food, toys and clothes we received have made such a difference during a very difficult time in our lives.

The kindness, generosity and support shown to us have helped more than words can express. Knowing that so many people cared enough to help has given me hope and made me feel supported when I needed it most.

For anyone experiencing domestic violence, you are not alone. Leaving can be one of the hardest things you’ll ever do, but I’ve done it. It may have taken me years, but I did it. You have got this. Times won’t be tough forever. Break the cycle — for yourself, your family and anyone else.”

To everyone who has continued to message and offer help today — thank you. The generosity has been overwhelming. ❤️

For now, this mum and her little boy have everything they need, thanks to the incredible outpouring of support from our community. We know many of you are disappointed to have missed out on helping directly, but please know your willingness to step up means the world and there will, sadly, always be another family who needs our village.

There are moments when I am overwhelmed by the need we see every day.

And then there are moments like this.

Moments that remind me that Puddle Jumpers has never been about a building, a warehouse or a program.

It’s about people.

People who quietly give.

People who stay late answering messages.

People who spend their own money.

People who fill shopping bags with hope.

People who believe that no mum or child should face their hardest days alone.

Thank you for being the village.

You changed the ending of what could have been a very different night for one small family. And that is something truly extraordinary. ❤️

“I Don’t Have Any.”

Years ago, a little boy arrived at camp carrying a plastic shopping bag.

Not a suitcase.
Not a backpack.

Just a bag with one change of clothes.

One of our volunteers smiled and asked, “Did you forget your pyjamas, mate?”

He looked down and quietly replied,

“I don’t have any.”

Not I forgot them.

Not Mum forgot to pack them.

Just…

“I don’t have any.”

And he said it so matter-of-factly that it broke our hearts.

Because to him, it wasn’t unusual.

He had simply never owned a pair.

That night, while the other children changed into their pyjamas and snuggled into bed, we scrambled to find something for him.

And we made ourselves a promise.

Never again.

Never again would a child come to camp and feel different because of what they didn’t have.

Never again would a child lie awake embarrassed because everyone else had pyjamas and they didn’t.

And so, from that moment on, it became part of who we are.

Every single child who attends a Puddle Jumpers camp receives their very own pyjamas.

Not borrowed.

Not handed back at the end.

Theirs.

To keep.

Because pyjamas are never really just pyjamas.

They’re dignity.

They’re comfort.

They’re that feeling of climbing into bed and knowing you’re safe.

They’re the quiet message we want every child to hear:

“You matter enough for someone to think of this.”

We’ve now handed out hundreds and hundreds of pairs over the years.

And every time we fold another set into a camp bag, I think about that little boy.

I wonder if he remembers.

I know we do.

Because sometimes people think our camps are about canoeing, craft, campfires and fun.

And they are.

But they’re also about noticing the little things that tell a child:

You are loved.
You are worthy.
And from this day forward, you never have to go without pyjamas again.

❤️

Because every child deserves more than a bed to sleep in.

Every child deserves to feel at home.

🚨 URGENT HELP NEEDED TONIGHT 🚨

A courageous mum escaping domestic violence has come to us tonight with her little boy, aged 2. They are currently staying in emergency hotel accommodation and need a few essentials while they get back on their feet.

We are urgently seeking:

👚 Women’s clothing – Size 20
👕 Boys clothing – Size 2
🧸 Toys for a 2-year-old
🍎 Easy snacks for a toddler staying in a hotel – think fruit pouches, crackers, muesli bars, yoghurt pouches, fruit cups and other ready-to-eat items.

We have access to pantry staples and larger items through our warehouse, but hotel living makes simple, easy-to-eat snacks especially important right now.

If you can help, please drop donations to either our Kilkenny Warehouse or the Port Road Food Hub as soon as possible this evening.

Leaving violence takes enormous courage. Tonight, let’s wrap this little family in the kindness and generosity that our Puddle Jumpers community is known for. ❤️

Please message us if you can help or are on your way.

Thank you for being part of their village.

PAUL HAS FOUND HIMSELF IN A STICKY SITUATION! 😂🏷️

When these giant rolls of stickers turned up, we thought, “What on earth are we going to do with all of these?”

Well… turns out the answer is EVERYTHING!

📦 Label donations? Yep.
🧸 Organise camp supplies? Absolutely.
🍎 Mark food boxes? Too easy.
🎨 Craft projects? Why not!
🤔 Randomly stick them to volunteers? We’re trying to resist…

Paul generously donated these rolls after coming across them, and they’ve already found a million uses across Glandore and our Kilkenny warehouse.

Who knew something so simple could be so handy?!

Thanks Paul, for getting us all into this very sticky situation. 💛😂

Now the real question is… how many stickers is too many stickers? Asking for a friend… 👀🏷️🤣

🥖 WE’VE RUN OUT OF BREAD BAGS… AGAIN!

This photo says it all.

Today at our Food Hub, we had shelves full of beautiful bread generously donated for families doing it tough. But when I asked why some of the bread was sitting loose in boxes, the answer was simple:

“We’ve run out of bags again. We just can’t keep up.”

And honestly? That’s a beautiful problem to have.

Because it means more people are receiving food. More families are taking home fresh bread. More children are having toast for breakfast tomorrow morning.

But now we need your help.

We’re looking for donations of:

🍞 Bread bags/plastic bread sleeves
🔴 Bread bag tape or clips
⚙️ A bread bag sealing machine (like the one pictured)
📦 Or even a financial donation so we can purchase supplies in bulk.

We go through hundreds and hundreds of bags, and keeping up with demand is becoming harder each week.

If you know:
✅ A bakery supplier
✅ A packaging company
✅ A business upgrading equipment
✅ Or simply have some spare supplies sitting around…

Please send us a message.

Because something as simple as a plastic bag means another loaf of bread can safely make its way home to a family who needs it.

And if you happen to know where we can buy these cheaply, we’d love those recommendations too!

As always, thank you for helping us make sure good food doesn’t go to waste and that no one in our community misses out. ❤️
