Established in 1904, the RUSI of SA is the oldest defence and security think tank in the state of South Australia.

The original aim of the RUSI of SA was centred on providing Service Officers education and professional development by promoting the study of strategic and defence matters. A defence oriented library was established, which today contains a very fine collection.
