Did you know: SALA pays local artists to deliver special events and projects?

Whether it's sharing their knowledge of the art scene as a tour guide, hosting workshops, giving artist talks, participating in award judging, taking up an artist residency, or getting candid about their practice on the SALA Podcast, all opportunities are paid at industry rates.

This AusArt Day we're asking for donations of $30 to the SALA Artist Engagement Fund in honor of SALA's 30th year, to help us create more, and bigger opportunities for artists to earn money from their work in 2027 (and beyond!)

The 2026 Metropolitan winner of the Whittles Body Corporate Management Services Venue Award is: South Henley Newsagency & Postoffice!

The judges found that the South Henley Newsagency & Post Office completely embodied what this award is about in their support of artist Felicity Steer. From putting away their own stock to ensure that her artwork could breathe & present well, to getting so completely behind the spirit of her work, charging no commission on sales that they readily facilitated, and much more that was a delight to read in their nomination.

The 2026 Regional Winner of the Whittles Body Corporate Management Services Venue Award is: Mallee Spirit Distillery!

The judges were impressed at the variety of ways that Mallee Spirit Distillery supported their artists. From free accommodation, words of encouragement, and the creation of opportunities for the artists to engage with visitors, through to the dedicated promotion of the event within and beyond the district of Lameroo, and accompanying events to encourage regional tourism and engagement with the work of these artists in an exciting way. New audiences ranged from school students to interstate travellers, ultimately building connections for these artists across a range of networks.

The judges were impressed by the style of Sally’s work, which is a form of digital painting. They found that the works held an inviting atmosphere and felt that this work is the perfect choice to expand onto a larger canvas in 2027 and bring to audiences across the state.

The 2026 winner of the Guildhouse Artist's Choice Award is: Zoe Crichton!

Guildhouse invited artists of any medium, age, or skill level to vote for the SALA Award finalist whose artwork impressed them the most in the 2026 SALA Festival. The prize includes $1,500 cash + 12 Month Guildhouse Accredited membership.

A record-breaking total of 507 votes were cast, with an overwhelming number of voters delighting in Zoe's work. Voters remarked on the vibrant colours and sense of movement in her work, and ultimately appreciated the nostalgic quality that transported viewers to their own childhood memories.

The 2026 winner of the City of Unley Active Ageing Award is: Anthea Jones!

The judges recognised that Anthea has introduced an intensely personal narrative and storytelling into her latest body of work which has resulted in a richer and rewarding engagement in the work for both herself and the viewer.

This particular artwork displayed both a brilliant ex*****on of technique and detailed artistic content to awake the curious viewer.
