Only a handful of tickets left for this Saturday's photography workshop with none other than analogue film enthusiast Bryce Kraehenbuehl, winner of this year's SALA Solo Photographic Opportunity, and finalist in the Inspiring SA Science in Art Award. If you missed out on seeing Transient Nature at the Tibetan Buddhist Institute, don't despair! Monks from Sera Jey Monastery will be creating another beautiful sand mandala at the State Library of South Australia this week. It's a centuries-old practice, rarely seen outside a monastery.

According to Tibetan Buddhist tradition, simply seeing a sacred mandala is believed to create positive karmic imprints, inspiring compassion, wisdom, and inner peace. Experience for yourself the tradition that influenced South Australian artist Benjamin Liew’s recent photographic work (pictured).

This free event is open from Thursday 27 until Sunday 30 August at the State Library of South Australia (corner of North Terrace & Kintore Avenue, Adelaide).

Lisa Khan is a contemporary Aboriginal artist from Coober Pedy, South Australia, of Antakirinja, Yankunytjatjara and Pitjantjatjara descent, and Pakistani heritage. Her work explores the light, colour, and emotional landscape of desert Country. Her practice reflects movement across communities and a deep knowledge of land, culture, and intergenerational connection.

Keep an eye out for the limited edition SALA x Foodland Tote Bag featuring her painting ‘Kami Ku Ngura. Kupa Piti’, which translates to 'My Grandmother’s Home. Coober Pedy'.

Small acts of beauty and resistance perform hope when ordinary people feel powerless. Sally rescues cardboard and wrangles recycled frames to bring you weapons of hope for the future. Her oil paintings on recycled materials and her digital paintings set in pre-loved frames depict the wild landscapes and people she loves.
