🏠 Nine new homes taking shape on the Yorke Peninsula

We’ve been a little quiet about this one… but not because nothing’s been happening.

Behind the scenes, work is well underway on nine new two-bedroom homes on the Yorke Peninsula, purpose-built to increase housing options for South Australian veterans.

The development has been made possible through funding from the Department of Veterans’ Affairs, aligned with the Housing Australia Future Fund, helping us turn an identified need for veteran housing into something very real.

And as you can see — we’re well into the build.

These nine homes will add another important piece to the housing pathway available through Andrew Russell Veteran Living, particularly for veterans wanting to remain connected to regional communities.

There’s still plenty of work ahead, but seeing frames in the air is a pretty special milestone.

Nine homes. Nine more opportunities for veterans to find a place to call home.

More to come as the build takes shape. 🇦🇺

🎨 Artist of the Month 🌸

This month, we’re delighted to celebrate the beautiful work of one of our talented residents, Sharan, as our Artist of the Month.

A former primary school teacher and principal, Sharan has always had a wonderfully creative side. Her favourite subjects to paint included landscapes, flowers, houses and beach scenes, working with both acrylics and watercolours and often adding delicate fine-line details.

For many years, Sharan’s home was filled with colour and light – and it wasn’t unusual to find paints and brushes spread across the table as she worked on her latest creation. 🎨

She also loved sharing her art with others, turning her work into cards and prints as well as creating larger pieces to be enjoyed.

Inspired by her love of nature, Sharan’s artwork captures the beauty she saw around her and, perhaps most importantly, the joy she found in creating something beautiful for others.

We’re very proud to showcase a selection of Sharan’s wonderful work this month. ❤️

🏡 More new homes are taking shape at Waterford Estate!

It’s exciting to see construction underway on five new homes, ideally located close to the Community Centre and the heart of village life.

These latest homes are another sign of the continued growth of our Waterford Estate community in Murray Bridge, creating more opportunities for people to enjoy a relaxed, connected retirement lifestyle.

We look forward to watching these homes take shape over the coming months – and eventually welcoming their new residents! 🏠✨

From a three-bedroom home to a one-bedroom, she's loving the community and the extra time she's got to do what she actually enjoys.

🌺 A very special gift, handmade with care 🌺

We are incredibly grateful to the talented and wonderful Raelene, whose beautiful handmade creations have become a meaningful part of welcoming new residents into our aged care community.

Many will know Raelene for the gorgeous poppies she creates for us, which we place on blankets presented to new residents when they join our community. Each one adds such a thoughtful and personal touch to their welcome.

Raelene has now gone above and beyond, creating around 120 beautiful soft spectacle cases for incoming residents. ❤️

What makes them even more special is the fabric she has chosen – each case has been lovingly made using poppies and remembrance-themed material, making them particularly meaningful for our community.

Raelene has also donated a beautiful Vietnam War-themed quilt - which will no doubt become a treasured piece.

Thank you, Raelene, for your wonderful generosity, and for helping us make those first moments in a new home feel that little bit more personal and special. 🌺❤️

It is so wonderful to see our veteran residents out and about! Brian recently travelled to NSW to visit his son, and attend a special service commemorating the 60th Anniversary of the Battle of Long Tan Vietnam Veterans' Memorial Day on Sunday 16th August.
The service was held at the Vietnam Veterans' Memorial on the Ettalong Waterfront, with guest speaker General the Honorable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK AC (Mil) CVO MC (Retd).
The service was followed by a 3 course lunch at the Ettalong Diggers Club RSL, with entertainment by Little Patty and Lucky Star who were entertainers in Vietnam.
What a wonderful trip away Brian, and thank you for your service.

Today, the 18 August, we commemorate Vietnam Veterans' Day on the anniversary of the Battle of Long Tan in 1966.

The Vietnam War was Australia's longest military engagement of the 20th Century.

By the time the war ended, almost 60,000 Australians served during a decade of conflict between 1962 and 1972. About 3,000 Australians were wounded during the war, and 524 died during their service in Vietnam or as a result of that service.

To those who served in Vietnam, we thank you for your service.

🌿💧 Waterford Wetlands Looking Wonderful 💧🌿

After the recent rains, the wetlands at Waterford Estate are looking wonderfully full and refreshed!

There’s something special about seeing the water return, bringing new life and energy to this beautiful part of the Estate. With the wetlands full and the surrounding landscape looking lush and green, it’s a lovely sight for residents, families and visitors to enjoy. 🌱🦆

Sometimes nature puts on the best show of all - and Waterford is certainly looking amazing. 💙
