What is the project about?
As part of the AgriFutures 2 million research fund for insect industry development, this research project aims to gain industry information on the current state and practices of producers in the Insects as Food and Feed industry in Australia.
The information will also give valuable data to inform the current production practises in Australia and aid in identifying the gaps in knowledge and capability development. This survey will also help to assess standards in practise for the future development of insect production manuals for Australian insect farming. The insect industry program of research is funded by AgriFutures, with contributions and collaborators including the University of Adelaide, the University of South Australia, the University of Melbourne, Evidn, Charles Sturt University, the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation, Spectrum, and the Insect Protein Association of Australia (IPAA).
