✨ Meet Angie! She may not work for CommunityLIFE SA directly, but she's still a valued part of our community!

Angie is Community Education Coordinator at ARA - Australian Refugee Association and facilitates our free Beginner English Conversation Classes every Wednesday during school terms.

She loves seeing people from different backgrounds come together to learn, support one another, and build confidence as they settle into life in South Australia.

A fun fact about Angie? She's currently learning words and phrases in Arabic, Dari, Chinese, Burmese, Swahili, Nepali and Spanish to help connect with participants and better understand the challenges of learning a new language.

CommunityLIFE SA is thrilled to announce that we have been listed as a Finalist in the SA Training Awards for our work in Adult Community Education!

ACE provides a critical pathway for people wanting to develop a new skill for work or further education, or just for their own personal interest, and we’re really excited to have our own ACE work recognised by the South Australian Skills Commission in this way.

A huge thank you and congratulations to our ACE team for their incredible work with our many participants. ACE has become really important part of our work thanks to your efforts!

We’re looking forward to the announcement of the final winner on 11 September, and excited to be among such a high quality and well regarded group of finalists. Stay tuned!

CommunityLIFE SA is moving forward with a new name reflecting the work we do across Adelaide, but that doesn’t mean we want to forget our heritage. That’s why we’ve named our building at Mitchell Park MarionLIFE House, as a way of celebrating and recognising over four decades of incredible work for our community. And today we put up this beautiful sign, hand-crafted from sustainably-grown Tasmanian Oak, to commemorate that!

A big thank you to Phil Ellinger (pictured putting brick-dust in our Director’s hair) who donated materials as well as his time and skill!

Despite the wet weather, more than 40 people joined CommunityLIFE SA yesterday for a wonderful day of connection, conversation and fun. A huge thank you to Junction for sponsoring Kombi Crew, keeping everyone warm with hot drinks, and to Brighton Jetty Bakery for generously providing pies, pasties and sausage rolls so we could offer a hot lunch to attendees.

As always, our very own Callan and Judy hosted an entertaining round of Music Bingo, complete with chocolates, prizes and plenty of laughs.And the week isn’t over yet! Join a group tomorrow at Glandore Community Centre, when Chatty Cafe will be on from 10.30. And if you miss the events this week, you can still get along to CommunityLIFE SA’s own Chatty Cafe, and other programs, next week.

Last year, CommunityLIFE SA provided Emergency Relief to more than 1,200 people across four council areas.

For us, Emergency Relief is often the "front door" to something more. Alongside food, essentials and financial counselling support, we help people connect with programs that build confidence, skills and belonging.

A visit to our pantry might be someone's first time at CommunityLIFE SA. Months later, they could be sharing a meal with others, learning new skills, or volunteering in their community.

This year we're aiming to raise $80,000 to keep this vital service sustainable as more people face increasing financial, housing and fuel pressures.

☕ When is a coffee not just a coffee?

At CommunityLIFE SA, coffee is about so much more than what's in the cup. It's about connection, conversation, friendship, and creating welcoming spaces where people can come together.

So when our much-loved coffee machine unexpectedly stopped working, we were worried. After three years of supporting our Chatty Cafe, Walking Group and Brekky Together programs, it looked like we were facing an expensive replacement.

Then something wonderful happened. 💛

The team at Jura offered us a nearly-new replacement machine at absolutely no cost. Their generosity means we can continue serving quality coffee and creating opportunities for connection in our community.

Sometimes the world can feel a little hard, but moments like this remind us that kindness and generosity are everywhere.

A huge thank you to JURA for helping us keep the coffee flowing and the conversations going. ☕
