More than 700 people joined us to welcome the warmer weather at our annual Spring Carnival last week, making this year's event our biggest ever!

The day began with a Welcome to Country and smoking ceremony led by Robert Taylor, before the grounds came alive with activities for all ages.

The local SES, fire trucks and police car were popular attractions, drawing plenty of excitement from young visitors eager to climb aboard and explore. Families also enjoyed meeting baby animals, having their faces painted, collecting balloon creations and enjoying the giant jumping castle.

A huge thank you to our event sponsors: Results Electrical - 8193 2800, D&G Plumbing, Trent's Plumbing & Gas and the Scouts, Lions Club and Girl Guides who kept everyone well fed.

We'd also like to thank our partners, volunteers and supporters whose generosity and hard work helped make this year's Spring Carnival our biggest and most successful yet.

Thank you to the Hon. Katrine Hildyard MP for visiting our Goolwa office today and spending time with our team, who are on the frontline of supporting people and communities across the Fleurieu.

It was a valuable opportunity to discuss the challenges and opportunities they’re seeing on the ground, as well as innovative responses such as our Fleurieu Supported Accommodation project.

From homelessness and domestic and family violence services to financial counselling and Community Connections, we’re incredibly proud of the work our teams are delivering across the region every day.

Thank you, Minister Hildyard, for taking the time to visit, listen and learn more about what our teams are seeing on the ground.

Our Spring Carnival is back for 2026!

This school holidays we're returning to Hendrie Street Reserve, Park Holme on Thursday 8 October, from 12pm to 3pm for another jam-packed afternoon of fun.

Come along and enjoy a free event featuring a Welcome to Country, performances, petting zoo, bouncy castle, activities for all ages, raffle prizes, and plenty of delicious food. Scouts SA and Lions Club will be firing up the sausage sizzle while Girl Guides SA serve up fresh pancakes.

When five-year-old T* chose a new lock screen for her iPad, she didn't pick a cartoon character, she chose a photo of the people she loves.

"She got me, Tara, and our partners to take a picture with her," Rosanna, T's foster sister, said. "That made me feel really happy. When I looked at her, she was so happy."

For foster parents Ashiana and Russell, one of the greatest joys has been watching the bond between T and her older sisters, Tara and Rosanna, grow. From everyday adventures to life lessons, they're some of her biggest champions.

"I think when you've got someone who's kind of closer to your age, as an older sister, you can be more of a voice of reason compared to parents," Rosanna said.

"My hope is that if T does get exposed to challenging things, she'll feel comfortable coming to me and Tara to talk about it."

As we mark Foster Care Week (13-19 September), we're celebrating the carers, siblings and support networks who help create safe, stable and nurturing homes where young people can thrive.
