🐀 UPDATE ON SANCTUARY CLOSURE 🐀
To our beloved Tails of the Heart community,
From incredibly humble beginnings starting with the rescue of gentle Elliot, our mascot (pictured below), Tails has saved the lives of hundreds of rats and mice in need.
This wouldn’t have been possible without help from countless fosterers, volunteers assisting with cage maintenance and transport, generous members of the community providing financial assistance and physical donations, and of course, our adopters who opened their hearts to animals needing a second chance. Tails can never repay you all for your efforts, but we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for everything you have done and continue to do.
However, after many, many years as the patron saint of Adelaide’s abandoned rats and mice, the time has come for Mama Tails to rest. Running Tails of the Heart single-handed is a task she can no longer fulfil to the best of her abilities, particularly as she navigates complex chronic health issues. We apologise for communications that have gone unanswered recently as a result of this.
Tails of the Heart will now indefinitely close to the public. However, we still have four beautiful adult males available for adoption, as well as our current population of nine sanctuary residents.
While the sanctuary still has animals in its care, we still greatly appreciate community support through our volunteers and foster carers, and through monetary and physical donations. All donations will go towards the care of our remaining animals.
We would love for our community to share a special moment or a positive experience you had with Tails of the Heart in the comments, or tag us if you’d like to share a post or story with your memories.
There is the possibility of the sanctuary reopening in some capacity in the future, but for now we say farewell.
With so much love,
Mama Tails 🐀
