⚖️ Access Chapter 2 Monitors Sexual Offences Case at Port Shepstone Magistrate’s Court
Today, Access Chapter 2 monitored a sexual offences case involving a young girl who was r***d at the Port Shepstone Magistrate’s Court. The matter remains at the trial stage, with the State continuing to lead evidence.
During today’s proceedings, Dr Omar Faziel Habib, a psychiatrist, took the stand as a State expert witness and provided evidence relating to the psychological assessment and impact of the matter on the young complainant.
The matter was part-heard and postponed to 29 September 2026, when the complainant’s mother is expected to take the stand and give evidence.
Access Chapter 2 will continue to monitor the proceedings and document key developments, while advocating for the survivor’s rights, dignity, safety and best interests throughout the legal process.
Justice must be pursued with dignity, accountability and care.
