Children from across the community of Domue in Mozambique gathered to share in the joy of reading. As part of the "Tiri Pa Modzi!" project, children read books, recited memorized passages, and performed skits based on their Little Zebra book. This is just one of many weekly gatherings across Tete Province operated by Children's Hope in Christ and using our books.

With our new partners joining us for the Community of Practice yesterday, we had a bumper turn out! It was a jam packed session, with partners checking translations on two new books and learning about how to create a positive environment for an enjoyable reading time with the children in their programmes. They shared feedback from last month's book and how proud they were to be handing out a book that they themselves had written! We also shared that we are going to be taking 3 new stories forward from the Storyshop we held last month. It is such a privelege to be working alongside these incredibly creative partners doing amazing work in their communities.

We are excited to welcome some incredible new partners to the Masifunde Sidlala family.

Lerato's Hope, Ikamva Afternoon Angels, and Uhlanga Books join a growing network of organisations across the Western Cape who share our belief that every child deserves access to books and the joy of reading. Together we are reaching even more children and we could not be more proud to have them on board.

In 2023 we launched Masifunde Sidlala as a pilot project with a goal to put as many books in the hands of children as we could. At the end of the pilot we were reaching 2,700 children in the Westner Cape. Today we are reaching children across the Western Cape, Eastern Cape, and Limpopo in South Africa. We are sending home books to 10,830 children a month. The single biggest driver of that growth has been partnerships.

By working with a variety of organisations already rooted in their communities, we are able to reach children where trusted relationships already exist. Some of our partners have been with us since the pilot. Others have joined us along the way. What they all have in common is a deep commitment to the children in their communities and a belief that access to books changes lives.

We are proud of how far Masifunde Sidlala has come and excited about how much further we can go together. To every partner who has been part of this journey, thank you. The children's excitement every time they get a new book is the proof.

At Little Zebra Books, we believe that creating books together with our programme partners who understand the children in their communities is what makes our books loved and enjoyed.

That is why we work with partners in our Masifunde Sidlala project, who are rooted in communities and deeply committed to putting children and their stories first.

When communities are part of the process, the stories are richer, the language is truer, and the children who read them see themselves fully reflected on the page.

We are committed to building books that are created from within communities, because children's literature that truly belongs to a community can only come from within it.
