🌟🏆PRIZEGIVING AND PRESIDENT'S INDUCTION🏆🌟

Last week Fish Hoek Lions Club held our final meeting of the 2025-26 fiscal year, our annual Prizegiving and President's Induction.

We celebrated the successes of the past 12 months, surprised our Club President, Mandy, and Club Secretary, Tania, with well-deserved Louis Volks Humanitarian Awards, and welcomed in our new Club President, Brent. On a sad note, we closed our LEOS Alpha club due to the aging out of the majority of the members, but have already started thinking of creating a LEOS Omega club (ages 18 to 30).

🦁FISH HOEK LIONS BOARD ON SAFARI🦁
..a Safari Dinner, that is!

For our last Board Meeting of the 2025-26 fiscal year, the Fish Hoek Lions Club Board decided to hold a Safari Dinner. Starters at Zeta's home, mains at Lauren's, finishing with dessert at Tania's.

It was a night of stories, laughter, hopes for the club going forward... delicious food... and one or two drinks. With three members stepping off the Board for next year, we were sorry to say goodbye to the friendship group that we have become, but also excited to see a new Board stepping up and moving the club forward.

🏆WE'VE GOT SPIRIT!🏆

A few weeks ago we attended the last Zone 11 meeting of the 2025-26 fiscal year. A zone consists of a number of clubs in a geographic area, which meet quarterly to discuss joint projects, disseminate information, discuss relevant topics etc.

Since it was the last meeting of the year, it was also an opportunity to present awards. And yes, we did it again, Fish Hoek Lions Club won the Spirit Trophy! This year it was awarded for our Colour Run, and for bringing the Lions and LEOS together for our inaugural Dog Show for Tears.

Our Club President, Mandy, was personally recognised for serving as Zone Secretary for 2025-26, and also received a Certificate of Appreciation from the Global Action Team, signed by our International President. Well done, Mandy!

While the motto of Lions is "We Serve", it's also good to take time out to acknowledge those whose service goes above and beyond. Next week Thursday, 11 June, we will be holding our Fish Hoek Lions Club prizegiving at the Fish Hoek Athletics Club at 7pm. All are welcome.

MOBILE MEALS MAY COOK

Yesterday Fish Hoek Lions Club was back in the Mobile Meals kitchen, cooking up 23 meals for delivery to the aged/infirm in our valley.

Mobile Meals AKA Fish Hoek Service Centre deliver a substantial and healthy meal to recipients three times a week, with a team of volunteers serving as cooks, and a second team of drivers and hoppers conducing home deliveries. Such a great initiative, which we love being a part of. 💛

🦁INDUCTING A NEW LION...AND SPECIAL VISITORS🦁

Fish Hoek Lions Club was pleased to welcome Andrew into our club at our GBM on Thursday. He and his sponsor, Club President Elect Brent, have been friends for many years, and with Andrew's history of community service, we know he will be a great addition to our club.

Our thanks to our District Chair for Compliance Zainunesha for conducting the induction, as well as her fellow Cape of Good Hope Lions Hassan and Heather for joining us at our GBM. It's always good to host Lions from other clubs. 😁

HIGHLIGHTS OF JANUARY TO APRIL 2026

2026 has started with a bang for Fish Hoek Lions Club. From our 2nd Big Walk for Little Warriors - Colour Edition - to our first hosting of the Bike Ride for TEARS and the inaugural LEOS Dog Show for TEARS, we've run some fantastic projects in the first few months of the year.

🐣🐰HIPPITY HOPPITY🐣🐰

Project Easter Egg concluded earlier this month, with the distribution of marshmallow Easter eggs to a variety of schools, ECD creches and homes for those in need.

Getting our Easter Bunny on is always a fun time for Fish Hoek Lions Club, knowing not only how much the recipients enjoy the eggs, but also the kindness and generosity that went into donating the eggs in the first place.
