Huge congratulations to Athandile and Ave, two of our Grade 11 Bright Start beneficiaries at Camps Bay High School, who have been elected as Student Prefects for 2027! 🌟👏

This incredible achievement reflects the leadership, dedication, and balance both of these young leaders bring to everything they do.

Athandile recently checked in after a busy Term 3 and a weekend at prefect camp, sharing how pushing his limits academically, staying active on the field, and participating in our recent Bright Start career workshop helped set him up for success. As he prepares for the road to Matric, his focus and drive are truly inspiring!

We could not be prouder of Athandile and Ave as they step into these leadership roles. 💙

A massive thank you to their dedicated sponsors, Frank Holland & Associates FHA (sponsoring Athandile) as well as Victoria Ward and Sawabona Africa e.V. (sponsoring Ave),for believing in our students and making milestones like this possible!

For over a decade, Wynberg Girls' High School has been an extraordinary Bright Start partner school, fostering an environment where young women truly thrive. 🌟

Their dedication to academic excellence, holistic development, and empowering leadership makes them a standout educational provider. Over the years, we have seen numerous Bright Start beneficiaries walk through their doors, grow in confidence, and build bright futures.

Today, we are so proud to highlight three of our high-achieving beneficiaries currently making their mark at Wynberg Girls':

Naeemah (Grade 11) – Recently appointed as the Head of iKhala House and elected as Deputy Chair of the Representative Council of Learners (RCL)! Serving on the School Council, her incredible leadership is a testament to the respect she has earned from both staff and peers.
Juliana (Grade 10)– Deeply engaged in her studies and continually pushing her boundaries.
Salem (Grade 9) – Focused, determined, and constantly aiming for better outcomes.

A special and heartfelt thank you goes out to the dedicated sponsors of Naeemah, Juliana, and Salem. Your generous, long-term support helps make these incredible academic and leadership milestones possible. Commitment like yours truly changes lives!

Partnering with an institution that shares our passion for transforming lives through education is a privilege. We can't wait to see everything these brilliant learners achieve! 💫

This is Diego Jacobs on his graduation. He studied for a Bachelor of Commerce.

From joining the Bright Start Education Support Programme back in 2008 as one of our very first learners at Kronendal Primary School, to navigating his high school years at Camps Bay High and stepping onto the campus of the University of Western Cape as the first in his family to pursue higher education, Diego’s journey has been nothing short of extraordinary.

His hard work, perseverance, and quiet dedication have paid off. Today, we celebrate not just a degree, but the inspiring young man Diego has become, a beacon of hope and proof of what is possible for the youth of Hangberg.

This incredible success story belongs to Diego, but it was made possible through the unwavering support and sacrifices of his mom Elizabeth, his dad Anthony, his sponsors Demi's Dream, the Hangberg community, and everyone who believed in him along the way.

Diego, you continue to make us all remarkably proud. Congratulations on this major accomplishment! We know this is only the beginning of a very bright future.

Believe in yourself; you've got this! ✨

Our last Tutor Workshop for the year is complete, and we’re ready for the tutor program starting next week at Kronendal Primary School! 🎉

This week was all about maths, the subject where most of our learners need the most support, and where not every child feels the love. Our goal is to help them build a love, tolerance and understanding of maths. ➕➖✖️➗

The workshop was also a chance for our tutors to bond and know they can always count on each other for extra support. 🤝 They arrived locked in, with their maths and thinking hats on, fuelled by snacks and juice! 🧃

We played some fun maths games, including an icebreaker called Math About Me: use numbers from real things in your life, use all the basic operations and brackets, to make your age.

Here’s an example for age 20:
I have 5 siblings, 4 grandparents, 3 dogs, 2 parents, 1 cat and 1 goldfish.
(5 × 4) + ((3 − 2) ÷ 1) − 1 = 20 ✅

Try it at home, it’s fun for the whole family! Drop your age equation in the comments. We can’t wait to see what you come up with! 👇

Welcome back to Term 4! 🎓✨

As we step into the final chapter of 2026, we want our children to remember: every bit of effort you’ve put in all year has brought you to this moment. Finish strong, because your potential is limitless.

The Bright Start team is ready to stand beside you for this final stretch, helping you tackle the end-of-year challenges and celebrate every single victory along the way. Let’s make this last term our brightest yet! 🚀💙

Celebrating the final week of Term 3 at the Bright Start tutoring program at Kronendal! 🌟🎉

Our amazing learners wrapped up the term with some high-energy Kahoot games, testing their knowledge while having a blast. To honor their incredible dedication and hard work throughout Term 3, each child received a small appreciation gift. 🎁📚

The hard work is showing in the results, too!

Improvements:
English average across all grades; 13-14%
Maths
Grade 5 - 25%
Grade 6 & 7 - 8%

None of this would be possible without the extraordinary generosity of our sponsors, Zilla Stekhoven and Tony Pringle, who are funding the tutoring program for 2026. Thanks to their incredible support, 53 students are receiving 80 dedicated sessions each in both maths and literacy this year! 💡🔢📖

Thank you, Zilla and Tony, for investing in these bright young minds and making a lasting difference in our community! 💙✨
