April and Jaci have had a total blast at the Illinois Public Health Association’s 85th Annual Public Health Workforce Conference!

They were able to attend a special pre-conference workshop specifically designed for recipients of the SNAP Connect grant that brought us our community health workers.

Thank you IPHA for inviting our Recovery Community Organization to be a part of the conversation on public health. We are stronger together!

Do us a favor and tag your friend with an unused bicycle in their garage down below!

We are so lucky to have a community like ours. Supporting those returning to the workforce in recovery is one of the best things we can do.

We have another individual in need of a community miracle. He has gotten everything that he can together for himself on his journey to rebuild his life. He is employed at Burger King, and he takes the bus there every day.

One thing that most of us take for granted in our lives is our access to transportation. Are you able to take yourself where you need to go? Are you able to get places safely and on time? Do you have access to options?

Bus passes are a great way to give back agency and learn accountability.... but they have one problem. Busses don't run 24/7 here.

Our peer has no problem taking the bus to work, but he cannot get himself home from work safely because the busses don't run at 1am when he gets off work.

We are in need of a bicycle to ensure that he is able to continue working safely. He plans to take the bicycle on the bus with him on his way to work, and ride the bicycle home afterwards.

What a great, informative, and collaborative weekend we had with Foster's Light in the Dark ! Christina Foster and her team do so many amazing things for our community, and we are very intertwined with their mission, vision, and community.

We are so happy that Lindsey and Andrea had the opportunity to showcase Amare services and hand out some prevention and outreach materials. Information and access to it is so extremely important in times like these. We are so appreciative to be included in education and community events.

If you have the time, learn more about them here https://fosterslightinthedark.org/about-us/

Look at this amazing community we have!

Last week, we made a post asking for our community to come together to get work supplies for a peer. The community showed up and showered her with everything she needs to be successful at work.

This is such an awesome example of how things that may seem small are actually the glue holding us together. Each piece of work-wear represents a series of shifts (and not just the ones that you clock in for work).

Some of these shifts that support foundational aspects of recovery are
- Feeling supported and seen by your community
- Having a position at work to gain accountability and show capability
- Knowing when to ask for help

Our peer demonstrated all of these. She knew what she needed and why. She asked for help... and the community answered with full support! Thank you all for sharing when we need items. Thank you all for checking your closets, finding items, and donating them.

To our peers and our greater community.. we see you, we hear you, and we LOVE YOU!

Give us a hand in thanking our AMAZING community members

-- We have a donation request! --

It isn't uncommon at Amare for us to see community members that are willing, ready, and able to work. Oftentimes there are barriers behind the scenes that make it difficult to find or maintain a position. Sometimes this looks like birth certificates, creating resumes, mock interviews, and donating work attire. We try our best to help with all of it.

We have a female peer who is in need of the following for her role
- Size 8.5 Steel toed shoes
- M/L high visibility shirts
- Hard hat
