League of Women Voters of Orange County, Florida

League of Women Voters of Orange County, Florida The League of Women Voters, a non-partisan political organization, encourages the informed and active participation of citizens in government.

The League's history dates back to the Chicago "Victory Convention" held in 1920, when the National American Woman Suffrage Association (NAWSA) voted to rename itself as the National League of Women Voters. Since that time, there has been a Florida organization named "League of Women Voters", in some form or another, almost continuously. The Winter Park League was one of the earliest local Leagues

that established the League of Women Voters of Florida. It became the Winter Park/Orlando League, and then in the 1960's, the League of Women Voters of Orange County (LWVOC). Traditionally the tri-county area and its issues have been of particular importance to LWVOC. We are proud of our heritage as well as our League's ongoing political policies and are confident of our ability to affect positive change in Florida.
