The Tree House Established in 1997 as a Children’s Advocacy Center, The Tree House, Inc.

We are a nonprofit organization whose mission is to strengthen communities by reducing the impact and occurrence of child abuse through counseling, educating, supporting, and nurturing children and families. is a 501C3 nonprofit organization located in Winder GA serving abused children and their families in Barrow and Jackson County. The Tree House provides services to over 1000 children and families yearly working to build families and rebuild lives. This week, The Tree House Board of Directors gathered for a meaningful meeting that included a special celebration of leadership, service and the future of our organization. 💙🌳

During our meeting, we honored outgoing Board President Janna Rookis with a reception recognizing her dedicated service and leadership. Janna has given her time, talent and heart to The Tree House, helping strengthen our organization and advance our mission of supporting children and families throughout Northeast Georgia. We are incredibly grateful for the impact she has made and the foundation she leaves for those who follow.

We are also excited to announce our new Board Executive Leadership Team:

Thank You for Joining Us!

We are so grateful to everyone who stopped by The Tree House during our Open House! It was a wonderful opportunity to welcome members of our community, share more about our mission, and talk about the many ways we can work together to protect children and strengthen families across Northeast Georgia.

A special thank you to the Auburn Police Department for taking the time to visit with our team and learn more about the current status of our SANE exam room and the important role these services can play in providing compassionate, trauma-informed care to survivors.

Partnerships with local law enforcement, community leaders, volunteers, advocates, and supporters are essential to the work we do every day. When our community comes together, we are better equipped to ensure children and families have support when they need it most.

Thank you to everyone who came through our doors, asked questions, learned more, and showed an interest in being part of our mission. 🌳💙

The Tree House, Inc. recently had the opportunity to visit with our partners at the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office to strengthen the collaboration that helps protect, support, and advocate for children and families throughout our community.

Executive Director Ida Segars, Public Outreach Committee Chair Katie Strickland, and Forensic Interviewer Jasmine Johnson met with Sheriff Kevin McCook, Chief Deputy Jeff Bray, and Mental Health Clinician Maddie Weiss— along with a very special member of their team, PJ 🐾.

The conversation focused on how law enforcement, child advocates, forensic interviewers, mental health professionals, and community partners can continue working together to provide a coordinated and compassionate response when children and families experience abuse, neglect, trauma, or crisis.

During the visit, The Tree House also invited Sheriff McCook to serve as an ex officio member of our Board of Directors, further strengthening the connection between our organizations and ensuring the perspective of local law enforcement is part of important conversations surrounding child advocacy and community needs.

We are incredibly grateful to Sheriff McCook and the entire Jackson County Sheriff’s Office for their partnership and continued commitment to Jackson County’s children and families.

Because when a child needs help, a connected community can make all the difference. 💙

Together, we can build a community where every child is heard, supported, and protected.
