It’s time to close the gap.

Hispanic/Latinx communities continue to face disproportionate HIV impacts due to barriers like stigma, access to care, and poverty.

On , we honor resilience — and commit to ending inequities.

Together, we can .

It’s week two of Substance Use Prevention Month. Our Comprehensive Harm Reduction (CHR) team wants to put a squash to the myth that a Syringe Service Program (SSP) enables more substance use.

There is no evidence that syringe exchange programs increase substance use in a given area. In fact, it's often been proven to reduce substance use because the added social support people gain access to makes them far more likely (5x more likely) to enter into treatment and to stay in recovery.

Providing clean and safe supplies of all kinds reduces the risk of HIV and HepC, along with reducing the risk of wounds and other infections. Stigma is also reduced while safety, love and compassion is increased.

Want to learn more about our CHR program? Reach out to us through our website or by calling 540-532-0294.

Today starts Substance Use Prevention Month and is symbolized with a red ribbon.

In the past year it is estimated that 44.6 million people in the United States have, or have had, a substance use disorder. In 2025 it was estimated that 69,973 people in the United States have died from a drug overdose.

Those numbers are too big. That is too many lives. One life is too many.
This month, our CHR team will be working even harder to get Narcan in the hands of everyone in our community, along with substance test strips to try and stop substance use related deaths.

We know substance use will continue happen. We also know we are one program. But, it only takes one- one test strip, one sterile supply, or one Narcan to save a life.
Please join us in wearing red, putting a red ribbon on your social medias, or displaying a red ribbon where others can see it so they know that you are joining us and the fight to help prevent losing more lives.
