SVERN alum Rosie (formerly Jodi) participated in this year's State 4-H Show! Rosie and Chloe have worked very hard together to get to this point and we are so excited for both of them! Rescue horses generally need patience, time, and ongoing training when they enter their new home, and if you give them all of that you get amazing results like Chloe and Rosie!! Heart horses come in all shapes and sizes, and sometimes from the last place you would think. This mare (Gypsy now Willow) was part of the Clarke County herd dispersal we have been working on. She started out full of aniexty, difficult to get close to or handle. Seeing her blossom in a new home is exactly why we stepped in to help these horses. Please consider adopting a rescue horse, I promise they appreciate it ❤️

This is a devastating to the women that have been growing this program. Speaking of Horses is an amazing and unique way of utilizing the therapeutic nature of horses. They had an absolutely tragic loss of a dog, horse, equipment, goats, and dreams. Brooke Baugher was also kind enough to foster for us at a time when we REALLY needed help, so it is time for all of us to step up and help her and Ada. We still have our Clarke County herd we are working on dispersing and finding new forever homes for! These horses are gorgeous, sweet, and worthy of a soft landing for the remainder of their days. Recently, we were contacted for help with a herd of Off-the-Track Thoroughbreds (OTTBs) and the rescue that has been working tirelessly to care for them, Shenandoah Valley Equine Rescue Network (SVERN).

When SVERN first became involved, there were 𝟑𝟐 𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐬 in this herd. Through their efforts, that number is now down to 𝟏𝟖.

But rescue never happens one horse at a time.

SVERN recently took in additional horses from a seizure case, stretching their resources even further. They need help supporting this remaining herd while working to find appropriate foster and adoptive homes.

These horses are OTTB's ranging from their mid-teens into their late 20s. They have been relatively unhandled for approximately 10 years, so their next chapter will require patience and investment. They will need veterinary care, farrier work, dental care, evaluation, and training.

But please don't mistake "older" or "unhandled" for "without value."

𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐞 𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐬𝐨 𝐦𝐮𝐜𝐡 𝐭𝐨 𝐠𝐢𝐯𝐞.

This is where rescue cooperation matters. One organization cannot always do everything, but together, rescues, fosters, adopters, donors, trainers, and supporters can make an enormous difference.

Freedom & Wh***ey Equine Rescue is helping spread the word and seek resources and placement opportunities for these horses. Now we're asking our community to help us help SVERN.
