Plant trees with us this Saturday in Stamford!

Over the last month, over a hundred volunteers from Trout Unlimited and partner groups like the Pollinator Pathway, Stamford Garden Club and UConn Master Gardeners program have removed non-native species from the Finch Flood Plain on the Rippowam River.

Swipe to see progress! This has truly been a monumental volunteer effort - the park needed it badly!

Join us at 10 am on Saturday, April 18 to help replant the site with native trees and shrubs. We’ll be planting over 25 different species which will add some much needed biodiversity, create habitat as well as filter and reduce storm water runoff into the Rippowam River.

All tools and equipment provided! Please register using the link below to help us with headcount and to see details on parking information!

Want to help us look for dams, culverts and map trout habitat on our rivers this spring and summer?

We’re hosting an online training tomorrow night at 7 PM on Trout Unlimited’s RIVERS App - an easy to use community science tool for volunteers to document different habitat disturbances and help us prioritize future restoration work.

We’re looking for volunteers to help us map rivers assessed during our “Big Apple Brook Trout” environmental DNA project! So far, we’ve confirmed trout populations on 21 different rivers in both Fairfield County, CT and Westchester County, NY! RIVERS App assessments will help us collect even more data to learn more about these unique wild trout populations in the NYC Metro area and help guide watershed-scale restoration strategy.
