A semester ending turned into food shared with our community. ❤️

Recently, surplus food and drinks from NICHE were rescued through ICT Food Rescue and delivered to Union Rescue Mission of Wichita as the semester came to a close.

Miranda and Keegan helped load up the rescue and continue to lead by example in what it means to be true community champions. Their commitment to making sure good food is shared instead of wasted is exactly what helps strengthen Wichita’s food system.

This is exactly what ICT Food Rescue’s Food Recovery Program exists to do. We help make food donation simple by coordinating the logistics between food donors and nonprofit partners across Wichita. We schedule the rescue, provide a volunteer food runner to pick up the surplus, and coordinate direct delivery to one of the 19 nonprofit partners we serve, helping keep good food in circulation instead of heading to landfills.

From an event at INTRUST Bank Arena to plates at Union Rescue Mission of Wichita. 🥬❤️

Last week, one of our incredible volunteer food runners rescued fresh produce from INTRUST Bank Arena and delivered it directly to Union Rescue Mission of Wichita.

Beautiful produce like this can make a huge difference for nonprofits serving warm meals throughout our community. Instead of ending up in a landfill, these fresh fruits and vegetables were quickly redirected to help care for our neighbors experiencing food insecurity.

This is food recovery in action.

Fresh donuts headed to OpenDoor. 🍩❤️

Last week, one of our volunteer food runners delivered this rescue from Paradise Donuts Wichita to OpenDoor, one of our 19 nonprofit partners serving the food insecure in Wichita.

Sometimes comfort looks like a warm meal. Sometimes it looks like a fresh donut and a reminder that someone in the community cares.

We are so thankful for local businesses, volunteers, and nonprofit partners helping keep good food in circulation across Wichita each day.

Last week’s rescue from Natural Grocers included organic turkey and sharp cheddar cheese shared with one of our 19 nonprofit partners, His Helping Hands. ❤️

Protein and dairy products are some of the most requested items across the charitable food system, and we are so thankful for community partners helping make sure good food reaches our neighbors instead of landfills.

There is nothing better than good people doing good things! 🍕

The wonderful staff at Little Caesars has been partnering with ICT Food Rescue to make sure their surplus pizzas find a home instead of a trash can. Every week our volunteer picks up their excess and delivers it to not one, not two, but FOUR nonprofits right here in Wichita serving our neighbors experiencing food insecurity.

Weekly the pizzas are delivered to Wichita Family Crisis Center, OpenDoor, Ronald McDonald House Charities Wichita, and Wichita Fellowship Club, Inc.

This is the kind of partnership that makes our hearts full. Little Caesars shows up week after week and our community is better for it.

The amazing staff at Vora Restaurant European made sure their Mother's Day Brunch surplus did not go to waste. One of our volunteers picked it up and delivered it straight to Wichita Fellowship Club, Inc. so our neighbors experiencing food insecurity could enjoy a little celebration too.

This is what food rescue looks like at its best: a restaurant with a big heart, a dedicated volunteer, and a community that shows up for one another. We are so grateful for partners like Vora who see the value in making sure good food finds its way to the right place.

If your restaurant or business has surplus food after events, we would love to connect! The key is getting on our weekly schedule or giving our team at least 48 hours notice in advance. It is always better to have a rescue route set up even if there is no surplus at the end of the day. Reach out to us at [email protected] to get started!

Consistency is a superpower and Kansas Leadership Center has it! 💪

Every Friday, one of our volunteers heads to Kansas Leadership Center to pick up excess food from their recent events and delivers it straight to Union Rescue Mission of Wichita, serving our neighbors experiencing food insecurity right here in Wichita.

This weekly rescue has been running strong for a few years now and it is just one of over 100 weekly rescues our team completes across the city. One hundred. Every single week.

Here is what we are most proud of: we make it easy on both sides. Food donors simply set aside their surplus and our volunteer handles the rest. And on the receiving end, nonprofits like Union Rescue Mission do not have to commit extra staff or volunteer time to make it happen. We take care of it all.

Good food. Straight to the community. No waste. That is the ICT Food Rescue way. 💚

Shoutout to our friends at Pizza Farmer! 🍕

Every week, this amazing Old Town Farm & Art Market vendor participates in our Food Recovery Program. When the market wraps up, one of our volunteers swings by to pick up any surplus food and delivers it straight to a nonprofit serving our neighbors experiencing food insecurity right here in Wichita. This week's rescue went straight to Wichita Fellowship Club, Inc.!

Here is what we love about having a scheduled rescue route: it is always ready to go, even on weeks when there is nothing left. Because when there IS surplus, we want to make sure it gets to our community, fast.

Going bananas for good! 🍌

We delivered 4 cases of bananas to Union Rescue Mission of Wichita and 3 cases to The Lord's Diner, because good food should never go to waste when neighbors are experiencing food insecurity.

These two stops are just part of the 19 nonprofits we serve across Wichita. Every rescue, every delivery, every box adds up to real impact in our community.

That is ICT Food Rescue doing what we do! 💪
