🍜📦 Now that's a noodle rescue.
Recently, KIMSON ASIAN MARKET shared surplus instant noodles and snacks through ICT Food Rescue. A volunteer picked up the donation and delivered it directly to Wichita Fellowship Club, Inc., helping good food continue its journey through our community.

One of the things we love most about food recovery is that every donation has value. Whether it's fresh produce, prepared meals, baked goods, or boxes of pantry staples, it all adds up to make a difference.

We're grateful for community partners like KIMSON ASIAN MARKET who choose to share their surplus and help keep good food in circulation.

🏆 Recognizing the people behind the impact.

Recently, we had the opportunity to present Kurt and the team at Picasso's Pizzeria with an ICT Food Rescue Certificate of Appreciation for their commitment to food recovery and our community.

Through the 316 Pizza Project, Picasso's helps turn what could have become food waste into hot, ready-to-serve meals for local nonprofit partners. Six days each week, volunteers pick up pizzas from Picasso's and deliver them directly to nonprofit agencies serving Wichita.

What makes this partnership special is its simplicity. Good food is rescued, prepared with care, and delivered ready to serve. No extra prep. No barriers. Just quality meals shared with our community.

We're grateful for businesses like Picasso's that continue to show up, think creatively, and be part of the solution.

Thank you, Kurt and the entire Picasso's team, for helping make Wichita a place where good food is shared and neighbors care for neighbors. 🍕

🥕🌱 One garden can make a difference.
Through the Plant A Row Program, a partnership between K-State Extension - Sedgwick County's Master Gardener Program and ICT Food Rescue, local gardeners share excess produce with their community by dropping it off at collection sites across Sedgwick County.

This rescue included onions and carrots, collected from one of our drop-off partners, Hillside Feed and Seed.

ICT Food Rescue volunteers pick up produce from 10 drop-off locations and deliver it to nonprofit partners, helping fresh, locally grown food continue its journey from garden beds to dinner tables.

Thank you to the gardeners, volunteers, and community partners who make this program possible. Wichita shines when neighbors care for neighbors. 💚

🍉 Community care looks different every day.

At Odd Fellow Hall, even after events have ended, the team takes the extra step to ensure surplus food continues to serve our community. This rescue included watermelon, roasted peppers, shrimp pasta, and more, all picked up by a volunteer and delivered directly to Union Rescue Mission of Wichita, one of 19 nonprofit partners we serve.

Rescues like this happen twice each week through our partnership with Odd Fellow Hall, and each one is a reminder that food recovery is about more than food. It's about people choosing to care.

Sometimes it's a venue saving food. Sometimes it's a volunteer making the delivery. Sometimes it's a nonprofit partner ready to serve a meal.

When local businesses, volunteers, and nonprofits work together, good food stays in circulation and continues serving our community.

🍎 Surplus food can feed Wichita.

Many people are surprised to learn that food donors have been protected by federal law since 1996 through the Bill Emerson Good Samaritan Food Donation Act.

This law helps encourage the donation of surplus food by providing liability protection for food donors and nonprofit organizations acting in good faith.

At ICT Food Rescue, we help make food donation simple. When a business, farm, restaurant, caterer, or event venue has surplus food available, one of our volunteers picks it up and delivers it directly to a nonprofit partner serving our community.

Today, food donated through our network is shared with 19 local nonprofit organizations serving Wichita.

🤘 Current mood when surplus gets rescued instead of wasted.

Recently, staff at NICHE donated surplus items, a volunteer completed the rescue, and the donation was delivered to Union Rescue Mission of Wichita.

This rescue is a great example of what happens when local food donors, volunteers, and nonprofits work together to keep good food in circulation.

And judging by the excitement in this photo, we'd say the NICHE team agrees. Keep rocking on. 🤘
