π§ PTSD Awareness Month: Understanding Trauma in Children
Most children who experience stressful or traumatic events recover with time, support, and care. However, some children continue to struggle long after the event has passed. When symptoms last more than a month and interfere with daily life, it may be a sign of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
PTSD can develop after experiences such as violence, abuse, serious accidents, natural disasters, or the loss of a loved one. It's important to remember that not every child exposed to trauma will develop PTSD, but recognizing the signs early can make a significant difference.
If you're concerned about a child in your life, Orchard Park Hospital is here to help. Early support and treatment can lead to better outcomes and brighter futures. π
