Ohio Valley Celtic Society

Ohio Valley Celtic Society Celtic culture is all through the Ohio Valley, mainly near Wheeling WV. We want to share different parts of our culture with others.

The Society has a broad spectrum of activities for it's members including field trips to Scottish Highland Games, Irish festivals and Welsh gatherings, Gaelic and Welsh language classes, as well as Gaelic history. We also feature guest speakers at our monthly meetings.

Disgraceful that St. Michan's vaults on Church Street were broken into again. Crusaders head was decapitated and other damage caused by vandals. The vaults contain the death mask of Wolfe Tone, the Sheare's brothers coffins and family vaults of others. Absolute scumbags that would do this.

Continuing our tales of local folklore...

The mythical kelpie is a supernatural water horse that is said to haunt Scotland's lochs and lonely rivers. The kelpie will appear to victims as a lost dark grey or white pony but can be identified by its constantly dripping mane. It will entice people to ride on its back, before taking them down to a watery grave.
