CASA of Santa Cruz County For 30 years, Court Appointed Special Advocates, CASA, has been serving children in the foster care system who have been neglected or abused.

CASA of Santa Cruz County advocates for children and youth, providing court appointed volunteers so each child in the dependency and juvenile court system feels cared for and connected with the people, families, and resources they need. By bringing the children friendship, health and educational resources and emotional support through weekly visits, our dedicated volunteers make a life-changing di

Juneteenth is Freedom Day, marking the exact day in 1865 when federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, to ensure all enslaved people were freed. The revised California state budget now includes $20 million for CASA programs! We are grateful to Speaker Robert Rivas, Pro Tem Monique Limon, Budget Chairs John Laird and Jesse Gabriel, and our budget champions, Assemblymember Mia Bonta and Senator Tom Umberg, for seeing the impact that CASA volunteers make. We also thank Assembleymembers Gail Pellerin and Dawn Addis for signing the budget lettter with their support!

The budget now goes to Governor Gavin Newsom for his consideration. You can reach out to Governor Newsom today and urge him to keep CASA funding in our state budget at www.gov.ca.gov/contact (use the "Legislation Issues/Concerns" topic area) or 916-445-2841.
