1. Understand and follow all rules.

The NATCA Facebook (FB) page was created to encourage open discussion about issues important to NATCA and its members. We require that you read and agree to abide by the rules here.

2. No offensive content/language tolerated. Users should not post material which is a violation of the NATCA National Constitution and/or the NATCA Code of Conduct, which prohibits discriminatory, offensive, obscene, libelous, threatening, harassing, or intimidating messages.

3. Not a reporting forum for inappropriate behavior. This is not a forum to report inappropriate behavior, Code of Conduct violations, or harassment or mistreatment. To report such incidents, please contact the NATCA Chief of Staff, the NATCA General Counsel, or your NATCA Regional Vice President.

4. No sharing of private information and copyrighted materials. Sharing of sensitive personally identifiable information is not allowed in this group, nor is content infringing on a person’s or entity’s copyrights, including but not limited to other web sites, media, etc. NATCA will not indemnify or hold harmless any user for copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property infringement.

5. No promotions or spams. Self-promotion, multi-level marketing posts. spam, coupons, promo codes, and other irrelevant content is not allowed.

6. Use of content disclaimer. When content is shared or uploaded to our channels, you agree to grant NATCA a non-exclusive license to host, use, distribute, modify, run, copy, and publicly perform or display the content in conjunction with NATCA business.

7. Removal from the group. Failure to adhere to those rules may result in being blocked from posting and commenting on our channels.

NATCA members Glenn Bloise (Erie ATCT, ERI) and Karyl Shaffer (Engineer/Eastern Region, EEA) recently gave U.S. Rep. Mike Kelly (Pa.-16) and his staff a facility tour of Erie ATCT. During the visit, Bloise and Shaffer discussed many of NATCA’s legislative priorities with Rep. Kelly, including pay parity for FAA employees, the Mental Health in Aviation Act, and modernization efforts across the National Airspace System (NAS).

The visit provided an opportunity to highlight the critical role ERI plays in the NAS and to continued NATCA’s efforts to educate members of Congress about the operational and legislative issues affecting air traffic controllers and other aviation safety professionals.

NATCA President Nick Daniels, Central Regional Vice President Aaron Merrick, and several other NATCA members took part in the Wingnuts Flying Circus in Tarkio, Mo. The event, hosted by U.S. Rep. Sam Graves (Mo.-6), brings together leaders from across aviation.

During the event, President Daniels participated in an aviation town hall where many of the questions focused on the status of modernization efforts across the National Airspace System (NAS).

NATCA also hosted a booth at the event, engaging with pilots and educating other aviation enthusiasts about the important work of air traffic controllers and other aviation safety professionals.

The Wingnuts Flying Circus is an annual event hosted by Rep. Graves, who is chair of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.

NATCA is excited to announce that registration for 2027 NATCA Academy classes opens today. NATCA is introducing a new registration module in MyNATCA, making it easier and more convenient to register for Academy classes, training, and events. Starting Oct. 13, registration for all 2027 Academy classes will be available in MyNATCA.

In addition, dates for two 2027 Comprehensive Legislative Activism Trainings (CLAT) classes have been added to the Academy schedule.

The new MyNATCA registration module allows you to view available classes, submit registration requests, answer required questions, and track your registration status. To help you navigate the new process, we have provided a member guide with step-by-step instructions on how to register, monitor your registration status, and manage your registrations.

✈️ Flight Deck Training is returning! Soon, air traffic controllers will once again have the opportunity to join pilots on the flight deck, gain firsthand insight into flight operations, and strengthen the partnership that keeps our National Airspace System safe.

A calm day in Arizona took a turn when a pilot radioed air traffic control to report an engine failure. With no airport nearby, ATCs quickly worked to guide the plane to a safe landing spot.

Flight delays and cancellations can be frustrating, but when it comes to extreme weather events, they’re often necessary. Behind the scenes, air traffic controllers and aviation safety professionals are making careful decisions with your safety in mind.

During Hurricane Isaias, our members are working around the clock to ensure the flying public reaches their destinations safely. We do our best to mitigate delays when possible, but we never compromise on safety.

A safe flight is a team effort. From takeoff to cruising to touchdown, aviation safety professionals, air traffic controllers, and pilots coordinate across the National Airspace System. They share information, anticipate what comes next, and work together to keep you safe at every stage of your journey.

That collaboration may happen behind the scenes, but it’s at work from coast to coast on every flight, every day.

This month, the NATCA wall calendar features a photo of Dallas-Fort Worth ATCT and TRACON taken by local member Derrick Green (Dallas-Fort Worth TRACON, D10). Dallas-Fort Worth ATCT and TRACON are co-located facilities that primarily serve Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport. DFW and D10 are both level 12 FAA facilities. The tower is home to 57 NATCA members, while the TRACON is home to 94 members.

As of 2025, Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport is the fourth-busiest airport in the world by passenger traffic, serving 85.6 million passengers annually. It is also the third-busiest airport in the world by aircraft operations when one takes the airport’s extensive cargo service into consideration.

Every year, NATCA designs and distributes a monthly wall calendar featuring photos of air traffic control facilities taken by our Union’s members. These calendars are offered to active and retired NATCA members free of charge. However, all members who want to receive a calendar must request one – each year – through MyNATCA.

NATCA's National Executive Board (NEB) is meeting Tuesday and Wednesday in Albuquerque, N.M.

NATCA's President, Executive Vice President, and Regional Vice Presidents constitute the NEB. The NEB is responsible for the creation of policy for our Union between our conventions.

The minutes from the NEB meeting in Rochester, N.Y., on Sept. 1-2 are now available on the NEB minutes page of the website.

NATCA President Nick Daniels addressed the Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l (ALPA) Executive Board on Sept. 23, 2026. During his address, President Daniels talked about the growing relationship between NATCA and ALPA, including the two labor unions’ work with the Modern Skies Coalition.

President Daniels also emphasized the need for aviation labor organizations to work together to ensure modernization efforts are successful across the National Airspace System. He said, “That is what we are fighting for day in and day out, to ensure we get the right tools and equipment into controllers’ hands, to best serve all of you and the flying public.”

Following his address, President Daniels heard comments from ALPA Executive Board members and answered questions. Many of the comments focused on the incredible professionalism shown by NATCA members during the October 2025 government shutdown.

NATCA thanks ALPA and ALPA President Capt. Jason Ambrosi for their union’s continued support of NATCA, our Union’s priorities, and our members.
