The news is out, WPFW family! 🎙️✨

We are thrilled to announce our 2nd 50th Year Benefit Concert on June 14, 2026, from 4:00 – 6:00 PM at The Palisades Hub. For over half a century, you’ve kept the jazz, blues, and news alive. Now, we’re bridging that history with a powerhouse performance by DC’s own Amy K Bormet and Elijah Jamal Balbed.

All proceeds directly support WPFW’s mission to provide essential programming to the DMV and beyond. Be part of the next 50 years!

🎟️ Tickets are live on Eventbrite at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/wpfw-2nd-50th-year-benefit-concert-an-afternoon-of-jazz-justice-tickets-1989422804161?aff=oddtdtcreator (Clickable link Instagram bio)

On Tuesday, May 26, WPFW presents All Blues: A Miles Dewey Davis Centennial Birthday Celebration, 5am until midnight.

Davis is one of the most influential figures of the 20th century - transforming music, fashion and art! His life was complex - marked by both amazing accomplishment as a co-architect of Bebop, and marred by the perpetration of domestic violence. Our special will unpack it all.

That’s Miles Smiles: A Miles Dewey Davis Centennial Birthday Celebration beginning at 5am on Tuesday, May 26, on WPFW…your station for Jazz and justice!

Listen at 89.3 FM throughout the DMV and worldwide at wpfwfm.org & the WPFW mobile app.

Affordability
More than half of Americans are struggling to secure basic necessities. Government spending is simply not investing in helping people make ends meet.

Guest: Lindsay Koshgarian is the Program Director of the National Priorities Project (NPP) at the Institute for Policy Studies. Her work on federal budget priorities highlights the militarization of the federal budget and the corresponding lack of investment in people and the planet. Her published reports include analyses of militarization in the federal budget -- from the Pentagon and war, to militarization of U.S. borders, and the militarization of law enforcement.

Prior to her work with NPP, Ms. Koshgarian was a researcher at the University of Massachusetts Donahue Institute, where she conducted state and regional economic development studies. She holds a Master of Public Policy from UCLA and a BA in Physics from the University of Pennsylvania.
