Another great employment journey during National Disability Employment Awareness Month: Highlighting Tim's Talent!

During his Discovery stage, Tim explored different activities and found that hands-on, creative work was more suited to his pace and interests than a traditional job with a set shift. Tim came up with the idea of creating a Minion garden planter and, with support and encouragement from his staff, researched the project and developed his own design. He enjoyed making decisions about the design and found creative ways to use recycled and repurposed materials while keeping supply costs low. Throughout the project, Tim remained focused and on task, showing enthusiasm and patience as he worked toward seeing his finished product. Once completed, Tim was extremely proud of what he had created and enjoyed receiving positive compliments from everyone who saw his work. The experience helped Tim recognize his strengths and demonstrated how meaningful, creative, hands-on projects can be a potential area of interest for his future.

Celebrating Value and Talent during National Disability Employment Awareness Month✨

Jonathan started working at Kirkbrae Country Club in June of 2026 as a seasonal pool steward which is responsible for trash removal, furniture setup and cleaning. He is also responsible for cleaning the exterior pool areas and tennis court areas.

Jonathan was then offered a year round position in September to now include additional off season responsibilities such as day to day cleanliness in the dining area areas.

"JT" as he is known by his coworkers is well liked and has become a fixture in his short time as a Kirkbrae employee. He is proof that hard work is the key to success!!

Paul visits the same Dunkin' every week with his parents, and when they went on his birthday his favorite employees gave him the superstar treatment! ⭐🎂☕️ They sang to him, danced with him, and as you can see by the smile on his face - gave him a birthday treat he'll never forget! Happy birthday Paul, we hope this next year brings you more special moments like this one and of course more trips to Dunkin'!!

📍A great story from our Transitions Team as we continue to celebrate National Disability Employment Awareness Month:

Emilee has been thriving at Ocean State Job Lot in Woonsocket, where she's worked for over two years now. Recently, the only issue she's had at work is not being scheduled for enough hours. One of the store locations closed, and another may be closing soon. When this happens, employees are disbursed to other stores, and this contributes to the lack of hours available for employees already working there.

With the fear of continuing to lose hours in mind, as well as a desire for increased hours, Emilee worked with her job coach, Joy-Ann, to be proactive. Emilee wanted to learn more tasks so she could take on more responsibility and have the ability to be more versatile. Therefore, she would have the opportunity to cover more shifts.

Emilee and Joy proposed an idea of having a credit/debit designated register. Emilee worked with Joy and her manager to learn how to process credit and debit transactions at the register. Emilee also learned how to operate the pallet jack. She is now able to process online orders for pick-up, as well as use the pallet jack to bring merchandise out on the floor for customers. By employing her problem-solving and self-advocacy skills, Emilee now has greater potential to work more hours. Though this continues to fluctuate to an extent, she saw an increase in her hours for several weeks!

Way to be proactive, Emilee! Keep up the great work! ⭐
