Mothers Against Drunk Driving Rhode Island (MADD RI) is proud to welcome Bethanie Rado, BS, CPS, as our new Program Specialist focusing on youth programming.

Bethanie brings a strong background in youth leadership development, substance use prevention, community coalition building, and public health education. Most recently, she served as the Drug-Free Communities (DFC) Youth & Media Relations Coordinator for the East Providence Prevention Coalition, where she helped lead innovative prevention initiatives, youth engagement efforts, mental health awareness programming, and community outreach. The East Providence Prevention Coalition team was recognized by the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy and CADCA for excellence in youth substance use prevention efforts.

Throughout her prevention career, Bethanie has been dedicated to empowering young people to become leaders and advocates within their communities.

In recognition of her commitment to service and community impact, Bethanie was honored with the Robert S. Burgess Community Service Award from the Rhode Island Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW-RI). This award celebrates individuals who demonstrate exceptional dedication to strengthening communities and improving the lives of others through service and leadership.

In her new role at MADD Rhode Island, Bethanie will focus on expanding youth programming, strengthening youth leadership opportunities, supporting prevention education initiatives, and helping young people use their voices to create safer communities.

We are thrilled to welcome Bethanie to the MADD RI family.

Exactly 10 years to the day that Jamestown Police Officer Ryan Bourque was tragically killed by a wrong way impaired driver, more than 400 Rhode Islanders came together for the Move With MADD 5K to honor his life, his service, and his lasting legacy in support of MADD Rhode Island

There was no more meaningful way to begin Memorial Day weekend, surrounded by community, remembrance, and purpose.

Ryan’s life continues to inspire strength, compassion, and action. Today, we walked, we ran, we MOVED in his honor, and in honor of all victims and survivors impacted by impaired driving.

A heartfelt thank you to the Bourque family and every participant, volunteer, sponsor, and partner who made this day possible. Your support is what keeps this mission moving forward and ensures that no victim is ever forgotten.

As we head into summer, may we carry this spirit with us. Make safe choices. Look out for one another. Let this be the safest summer yet. 💙
